Obviously tank needs a damn good clean and new fittings . I am going to buy a new water pump and have become a little confu...

Front Deformation Panel

Evening All, Was hoping to have Lower Front Panel W/C fitted tomorrow , but as usual the job’s got bigger ! Lower Panel removed ok , however the Deformation Panel on which Lower sits is completely shot and rusted through along the length . Really bad repair done few years ago, by a VW Cowboy and now...

Re: Gas bottle venting

Thanks for the replies lads .

I take from this I can get away with cutting a 30mm hole through new plywood floor and van floor , cutting through between van floor ribs ?
I was kinda hoping just 30mm hole through base unit positioned over and between floor ribs without cutting van floor .

Gas bottle venting

Hi, Just starting refitting new interior to my van and going ok . Nothing fitted as yet . Now then, do I need to cut 50/60mm holes in van floor for gas bottle ? We’ve now got new fridge, electric compressor no gas . Only gas will be to Smeg hob . I’ve asked a few folk who say there’s no need to rein...

New flooring

Morning All, Replacing plywood flooring in the van . Everything cleaned up and painted . Put down 12,- mm marine ply , thinking of securing using No.4 25mm length stainless self tappers . As plywood is 12mm and floor approx 2mm then am I ok using 25mm length , or shorter ? I’ll be using 2pk primer a...

Re: Replacing Camper Floor

Should have included this , using 8x4’ standard sheet . Total floor area approx 61”x61” . Main sheet will be 48” x 60” , leaving 13” to reinforcing bar and allowing 1” under units . Doing this as in the future if any welding required on O/S panel/sill etc then no need to remove whole floor . Gotta b...

Re: Replacing Camper Floor

Thanks lads, Good advice from everyone and now going for 12mm Marine Ply for all the floor area , followed by units . May use insulation between the ribs . Then carpet/tiles/Lino as now have kids and grandkids all wanting to use the van , easier to clean  I’ll put some pics up when all sorted ...

Re: DG Engine differences?

Yup, mine’s early system which if I was younger would have changed to more robust later one . At coming to mid seventies :( longevity of the exhaust isn’t an issue now :rofl Regarding the mixture of studs/bolts, I get the impression when built was all studs . The one nearest Water Pump looks tight w...

Re: DG Engine differences?

Aha, noticed you’re fitting new exhaust as I am on mine .
On mine studs all round apart from bolts on manifold nearest Water Pump .
Out of curiosity are you using studs on that manifold, or bolts ?
