Re: Temperature Gauge Not Working
OK. I will try 'shorting' the temp gauge sensor wires first and see if its the sensor that is at fault. Still a bit concerned about the coolant 'leaking' through the coolant level sensor. Could high pressure in the coolant system (due to the temp sensor not working) force coolant through the coolant...

Temperature Gauge Not Working
Hi, I have searched the forum for this as i thought it would be a common problem but could not find anything relevant, so here goes..... I have noticed on the last 2 (short - under 10 miles and sat in a bit of traffic) journeys that the temp gauge indicator is not moving on the dash. It just stays f...

Re: Backfire!
Hi, I've got a small popping / backfire when I lift off the accelerator after 'hard(ish)' accelerating (on a 1.9 petrol/watercooled). Never did it before but just had it MOted and its now started. Sound like a hole? Or could it be something else. Everything else is running well. I read in Haynes tha...

Replacing Fuel Filter
Hi, I am considering replacing my fuel filters on a watercooled, 1.9 petrol engine. Recent MOT suggested one was getting dirty. I can see one just after fuel tank which looks very dirty and one just before the carburettor which is not as bad (the first one is obviously filtering the worst of the gun...

Re: Air Filter Hose
I've never had it and dont seem to be missing it either - no problems starting in the cold too. I'll not bother doing anything with that then. So do you just have a hole in your filter box for air to be sucked in?
Whats the story with Webber? I seem to have stumbled across something!

Re: Air Filter Hose
I dont have anything present in my van that I have circled in your diagram. My van seems to run ok but I must be losing performance and economy? The previous owner installed a twin choke Weber carb conversion - would this be sufficient to run on? How tricky would it be to install / have installed a ...

Re: Air Filter Hose
Thanks for the quick reply. I currently dont have anything attached to the input hole on the air filter box. I have also found that the engine is losing power (just not firing) at high speeds recently. I checked the air filter and its pretty dirty (although only been in for a year and i havent done ...

Hot Cold Heater cable adjustment
My hot/cold heater cable is not connected to the lever on the dash. The cable looks twisted so i think i will need to replace it. Has anyone done this before? I followed the cable to the valve above the spare wheel. It looks a little tricky to access the value, remove the old cable, fit an new one a...
