Re: How to identify 2.1l or 1.9l engine????!!!!

Yep, looks like they should be interchangable! The only part I rescued was the manifold with the emmissions control parts on!!! And this part does not match the exhaust manifold I got my hands on! This is the part I've kept from old(with a whole lotta welding)! http://www.vanagain.com/images/0252511...

How to identify 2.1l or 1.9l engine????!!!!

Until now I am replacing the exhaust manifolds and have not been able to locate the same parts as i've stripped off. It is a US import and after checking Vana...

Where to recon my leaky power steering rack?

Hey people, Just got the van back from the MOT, looks like I need to replace the power steering pump ( leaking for about 3 years but they've pulled me up on it this time) and replace the steering rack(leaking)! I'm told that the pump shouldn't be to difficult to find but the rack is a wee tad of a p...

Re: Strange noise from engine Video on youtube

Could well be the water pump, I know mine sounded pretty clunky and ball bearing-y when it needed replacing. Get a nice long screw driver and hold the metal end to the water pump, and listen to the handle end (it acts like a stethoscope) if it is the water pump, the noise will be applified, and you ...

Cost of Service?

Hello again people Thanks to all who gave a bit of advice re my steering drift etc, I realise that this really is the place to vent my VW paranoia, instead of coming up with worst case senarios everytime I flick through the Haines manal. On advice I have booked my van in for the wheel poblem and tho...

Thank you all
IN answer to the appearance of the oil it is actually more like black grease, and when thinking about it the dust cap on the hub is connected to a cable of some type so I will assume it is the speedo cable as suggested.
Still will get it looked into.
Many thanks again
