Re: Could I have misaligned Diesel Pump internals?
As ever Oldiebutgoodie you are a star :D ; You should change your name to OldFaithful as you are so reliable on this site. I'd buy you a real ale if I wasn't in Catalonia. Someday maybe. From the link I may well have positioned the rebuild with the plunger shaft 180 degrees off (part5 of the link). ...

Re: Could I have misaligned Diesel Pump internals?
Cheers Dave for the reply. No, the one thing I wanted to avoid was playing with the belts (will do that job when I know everything is ticketyboo). Replaced the seal between the low to high pressure elements of the pump, and those at the distribution end (and the annoying one under the pump for the '...

Could I have misaligned Diesel Pump internals?
Had leaking seals on my JX 1.6TD pump, so I replaced all the other seals at the time all in situ. Having issues now priming the system now and wondering if I might have mucked something up in the pumping order (at the high pressure distribution end)? have tried to bleed & prime, but maybe insuff...

Re: Diesel Pump Easy Removal?
Cheers Dave :ok , I have a local mechanic that I could get out I guess (though he's technically a planxista (body work repair), and over charges. As a last resort OK). I initially had a leak at the distributor end of the pump. I sorted that out, then when rebuilt discovered the warm start leak. Was ...

Re: what colour oil pressure switch should I have?
I had this exact problem, and I had initially assumed that as the oil warmed it got thinner and for that I was loosing pressure. Kept an eye on it with a Pressure Gauge to see when it was happening. In the end I changed my oil pump, even though the old one still seemed perfect, and fixed the issue. ...

Re: sump drain plug ????
Just a quick note. I used to get the odd drip of oil getting past the oil plug even though the surfaces on both sides were clean. Must have been moving through the coil somehow. So I used a little square of resistant flat rubber and squashed the plug against it to make a clean seal. Stopped it entir...

Re: Diesel Pump Easy Removal?
Thanks. You did well, as I didn't think my non-big hands would get in there. I was considering removing the closest injector for work space, and remove the glow plug bar whilst at it. Will have a go as I really don't want to mess with the belt tensions until ready to replace them all. Don't want to...

Diesel Pump Easy Removal?
Quite simply I have a springing leak from the "warm start"/choke area of the Diesel Pump in my '87 T3 Multivan. Its in an area I don't think my hand can squeeze to get access to it, so can I 'quickly' disconnect the pump? I have bought a new seal kit, but have none of the special locking t...

Re: Dash Board Light Issue
Just a thought, but depends if you are running with two batteries, and the dash lights are somehow linked to the leisure battery. An example is the cig lighter that functions of the starter battery when van is running, but disconnects when engine stopped (unless you have a leisure battery under your...

Re: anyone fitted a radiator fan switch?
Hi Epiphone, This feels like an age ago now, but yes I had a spare bulb just below the clocks that was previously used to flash when indicating, but that seemed pointless to me as it flashed clearly on the dash :?: . So I hijacked this bulb socket and instead ran a feed from the radiator. Now when t...

Re: glow plugs not working & they're new!
Have you double checked the glow plugs, even if new, why not try one directly on a 12v battery to see if it heats up properly (obviously holding with pliers). You'd be surprised how many new plugs are defective unless buying the best.
Well just a thought.

Re: H4 bulbs ??
Cheers for the reply. I ended up doing this mod to only one of the two full beam headlights as every petrol station I went to here in Spain only stocked the H4. And never wanting to be caught out I wanted to make sure I always had lights (had a scare when I was much younger in an old Ford Sierra whe...

H4 bulbs ??
Was thinking the earth of my high beam headlights were failing on one side, so I had a look. The H3 bulb looked fine, but the contacts on the inner bracket were moving slightly past each other. So while I was tinkering around the garage found a H4 bulb where the low beam filament had already snuffed...

Re: anyone fitted a radiator fan switch?
Took my old XTZ750 over the mountains one year and the engine was misfiring until I returned below 1250 meters, and nobody wants to start playing with carburetion mixture screws when you are trying to get somewhere especially fully loaded with lugagge. Thank goodness for Diesels. What I did in the e...

a T4 coolbox in a T3?
Going by the dimensions the T4 Coolbox by Electrolux [RC 1070] should fit under my backwards facing seat (back to back they shot each other) but is it advisable or has anyone else fitted this? There should be enough air in there I would have thought for the wee fan to operate?
