Re: WBX Gearbox starter earth bypass cable

I've just put a 9" earth from the top main starter bolt to the side of my engine bay. Earth is 10mm on starter bolt and 8mm the other end, drilled out an existing hole in the engine bay to 8mm in order to fit it. Seems a good place for the earth, tucked out of the way from the elements and easy...

Re: T25 Starter Motor Problems - Earth

Cheers CovKid,

I've found my Hella starter that was previously in the van so I will refurb that one! Will also check all cables.

Thanks again.

Re: T25 Starter Motor Problems - Earth

Thanks CovKid

Will I need to replace the bush if I am taking the starter out? I will have a go at this and also check if I still have my old starter motor (could possibly refurb that one).

Re: T25 Starter Motor Problems - Earth

UPDATE: I've changed the ignition switch and put a new earth from the starter to the engine bay, but no difference, still intermittent starting. One thing I didn't mention previously is that the current starter motor is an aftermarket one and not original. Not sure if this makes a difference, perhap...

Re: T25 Starter Motor Problems - Earth

Thanks Martin! I will get an earth strap and attach from bottom starter bolt to engine bay or something similar.

CovKid, thanks for your suggestion, any suggestions on testing the ignition switch if I take it out?

Thanks again guys!

T25 Starter Motor Problems - Earth

Hi all, I have a 1.9 Petrol 1988 Caravelle. I started having starter issues, cleaned up all connections etc but it didn't make much of a difference, I still had an intermittently working starter. I've since replaced the starter, all good for about 3 months now the same issue again. I've cleaned all ...

Re: No spark on my T25 Petrol 1.9 DG 1988

Thanks for all the replies to this one guys!

@lodgey62 it turned out to be the Ignition Amplifier for me too! Found the same part code on ebay for £11 but ended up going with the Brickwerks one as the ebayers feedback wasn't all to good.

Back on the road again! Cheers all!

Yeah I'll try the feed and ask about locally.

I'm in Penzance Cornwall so usually miles from anyone else!

Got my B/H weekend sorted!

No spark on my T25 Petrol 1.9 DG 1988

I'll try to keep this brief... I was driving and slowed to let someone out of a junction, as I slowed down the engine died. I then couldn't get it started again. 3 weeks later and I still haven't got it going. Petrol feed to carb flows petrol and petrol flows on return feed too. Coil has correct res...

Re: Current T3 Exhaust options. Standard and Stainless

I've just bought the JK one as it was 15% off over the weekend, picked it up for £467 inc VAT, pretty pleased with that deal. I'll send over some pics when it turns up Mark. They are back to normal price now but Paul at VWSpeedShop has confirmed that he now has a few of their stainless system back i...

Re: Current T3 Exhaust options. Standard and Stainless

Ha! Good resurrection huh?

Well I wish I'd had known this earlier as I've been bodging the warm air pipes on for the last year as they always come loose.

Thanks for the reply! I think I'll treat the van to a stainless finally!

Re: Current T3 Exhaust options. Standard and Stainless

Hi all,

i have a DG 1.9 petrol, on the down pipes for 1 and 3 it has 2 warm air pipes on it. What exactly do these do? And how do I get around the issue that all these stainless exhausts don't seem to have them?

thanks :-)

Re: T25 Water Pump Leaking Coolant - PLEASE HELP!

Bled the system today, all seems well! I've just got a very minimal leak coming from the radiator bleed screw... the screw has seen better days, so maybe just replacing it will do the job? or do I have an issue? pressure too high? On another note, replaced rotor arm, distributor cap and plugs... see...
