Re: Alternator bracket - problem - fixed

Just fitted on of these brackets to help support the alternator as I also have an iffy stud. http://www.gowesty.com/tech-article-details.php?id=113 http://campervanculture.com/shop/vw-t25-t3-alternator-bracket-2-1-1-9-perol-wbx/ Hopefully this will finally address the problem of a loose alternator. ...

Webasto Heater install advice

Good afternoon all. I have an old Webasto HL18b (Petrol) heater that I picked up last year. I'm after some advice and wisdom before fitting it to my Westy. First things first..... Is it really wise to fit an old heater? TBH, aside from CO poisoning, I really don't understand what other risks come wi...

Re: Coolant Hoses?! Please help :(

Before you go replacing all your hoses it may be worth checking that your not leaking gas into the coolant system.

You have the same symptoms i had. Mine was due to cylinder sealing ring failure.

All the best

Re: Clunk noise on start up

Could be exhaust hitting body due to weak engine mounts. Either way I'd try and get a good look whilst someone else fires it up.

Re: Incorrect Temperature gauge reading

Update on this issue as I finally got around to this again. I have never been happy that the gauge is sitting high. I have now replaced almost everything in the cooling system (Temp Sensors, Dash Gauge, Radiator, Coolant, Water Pump, Thermostat, Thermostat housing) , I also had to rebuild the engine...

Re: Incorrect Temperature gauge reading

Thanks for all the comments, I have decided to live with it until the holiday season is over, but I'll be keeping a close eye on it until then.

Kind regards

Re: fuel tank sender

Hi,

Could be wrong... but I am fairly sure the sender points towards the rear. Something tells me it will foul the side before tightening if you try and fit it the wrong way.

Re: Incorrect Temperature gauge reading

Thanks Martin,

I'll probably take another look at the gauge itself at the weekend, may even try and recalibrate it with some additional resistance as a last resort!

Incorrect Temperature gauge reading

Evening All Yet another temperature gauge question, a bit long winded, please bear with me. The temp gauge is sitting just shy of 3/4, there is no evidence of actual overheating, the engine "seems" to be at the correct temperature, fan kicks in and out as it should, however gauge reading i...

Re: Drive away awnings

Hi Jocko

Guess it depends what you need the awning to do, LHD or RHD, Bedrooms, Toilet, room for table, Free standing cupboards etc, etc....

If you not busy, get yourself over to the Busstopover this weekend, bound to be loads there to see.

Cheers

Re: westy hightop headliner

Hi Gary Had to undertake the same job on our Joker hightop, used 3mm ply cut to shape using the original boards as a template. From memory the original boards should pop out once the skylights and the front curtain rail are removed, fitting is pretty easy too, although I also had to replace the batt...

Re: Which awning/annexe???

I've found a movelite xl pro kamper for sale locally. Anyone any experience with one? As we now have a LHD Westie, we bought a movelight XLF (very similar, I think) 2nd hand recently and whilst we have only set it up in the garden so far it does seem pretty decent. We did need to order the internal...

Re: Leak from petrol tank when full

Hi David I think you that the fuel balance pipe that crosses the top of the tank is damaged, usually one of the plastic ends goes brittle and breaks, if you follow the breathers in from the expansion vapour tanks under the arches you'll probably be able to locate the issue. http://www.brickwerks.co....
