Re: Wing,arch,valance,side window&Sliding door,cab step repair

Thanks for putting the effort in to posting your up-dates, its really useful to see whats under the skin. Im looking at some minor repairs under the rear wing for the MOT so your posts have been great for planning. My front steps were much like yours, but the van has faired better further along with...

Re: Steering column shear bolts.........

Hi, I took my sheer bolts out by using a small file to grind two flats on either side of the domed head and then tapped an 11mm open spanner on to the head. The bolts un-screwed without any problems and didn't require any un-due bashing with a hammer and chissel, so no risk of damage. It took about ...

Re: WASDALE

Yep, there is a campsite up at wasdale head, it is a national trust site. We stayed on it last october for a couple of nights. It's ok, there are hookups if you need it and the village is about 20minutes walk up the road, but take a good torch as there are no lights and the locals know the road so d...

Re: ROAD TRIP TO ANDORRA - possible help needed on way ;-)

Hi schizowife, Just a tip on shopping in andorra. the higher up the town you go the cheaper things are. We took in andorra by motorbike a few years ago and after buying a small camera from a shop in the town, later on in the day we took an evening walk to the top of the town (it rises through a vall...

Re: insulating_sound deadening of engine lid

Just chipping in on this one. I managed to get some combustion modified foam sheet (so it wont support fire) from a guy at the Tatton park VW show and trimmed it to fit in to the two spaces. It needed a bit of trimming to slip under the lip of the recess, but it wasn't difficult and its fixed tight ...

Thanks for the photo shots James, I'm just trying to decide on re-doing or swapping our seats, so this helps to think through the issues. Cheers,

Re: Tight first and second gears, in my T25

Yep, check the clutch slave cylinder. Have a look inside the rubber bellows below the cylinder, mine was full of fluid yet I couldn't see a drop of fluid beneath the van. If there is fluid there, then the seal will most likely be worn but it's cheap to get a repair kit from JK & easy to sort out...

Re: T25 Awnings?......

Hi all, We bought an Outwell Country Roads awning from justkampers last summer and it's ok. lots of room and light and airy. It takes a bit of time to set it up but, it managed it stayed up through one or two really blowey nights and it makes life a lot easier when it's wet outside. Its worth gettin...

Re: Towbar

Hi Foxley, Yep I fitted one too. Its really easy to do as the chassis is already prepaired to take the legs of the towbar. Whip off the bumper and pop your head under the back end of the bus and you will see where the bumper stubbs are bolted into the chassis legs. Simply un-bolt these and slide the...

Re: 1989 Autohomes Kamper colour code

Hi bideford, gotya. The guy I went to for the paint seemed able to work out the colour from his vast selection of colour cards; but while I was waiting for the paint to mix, he was chating to a guy who I took to be a vehicle repairer of some kind. They were going on about a bit of kit that could wor...

Re: 1989 Autohomes Kamper colour code

Hi, just looking and saw your post. I needed to match the paint on my van to do some touch-up work, so I had a look under the sound proofing in the engine lid. After a quick wipe with some thinners, I found lovely unfaded paint. I took the lid with me to our local Autopaint supplier and he gave me a...

Re: Water Leak on an AIR COOLED!?!!

Cheers Dugcati, I can see where that would come in. Its not really a workable solution for day-to-day use though. What a daft idea eh? designing a system that collects water and channels it into a vehicle. Where's my drill??

Re: Gear selector

Hi, You may want to check that the gear linkage hasn't been set up incorrectly or has moved out of position. Haynes manual section 7A.4 gives full details of how to do this. I had a really poor 4-speed box shift, so followed the info and it all came good. You may also want to check the free play bet...

Re: Water Leak on an AIR COOLED!?!!

Hi, Did anyone find a way to stop the rain getting in through the rear air vents?? My recently purchaced wbx van is parked on a spot with a very slight fall to the nearside, and fills up on the rear platform at the bottom of the nearside air stack until it flows over the edge everytime it rains. Eve...
