Not a qualified mechanic but we have swapped our van from flat4 petrol to 1Y diesel ourselves!
Happy to offer any advice if needed and only based near Fawley, SO45.
Cheers

Re: using petrol wiring loom for diesel conversion
We did exactly what you've done engine wise. Converted a petrol van to 1y diesel. I used the existing petrol loom and with Haynes manual decoded what colour wires went to the sensors on the original engine. Then it was a case of soldering wire onto these so they can reach the sensors on the 1y. I di...

Re: High Top in the wind
Fitting polybushes where possible or replacing with brand new rubber where not to the entire front end helped a lot.
Steering rack bushes, antiroll bar etc.
The difference that and 70mm springs made was just astounding.
A lot more definite it its driving manner!

Re: Build thread
Great starting point!
No idea on the roof but it looks like its missing a front section over the cab.
Doesn't effect how the roof works but may cause water to be driven in under the front of the roof when driving in the rain.
Strange seeing you here instead of E38

Child's bed
:ok :ok Hi not sure if I've put this in the right section just after some ideas as we have a 7 month old baby and not sure what to do for a bed for him as I think he is to small to put a hammock across front seats and not to keen having him on the rock and roll bed with us. So just wondering what an...

Re: Bare interior layout?
Good idea, but I think the fuel tank may get in the way. There may be enough clearance above it to bolt through the floor. Possibly have the bolts come up through the floor and the nuts in the van, the bolts can then be cut off to size. The seat belt mounts for the front seats can be also used for t...

Two types of Diesel Engine bars?
Hi, Done a search and got sidetracked for a few hours! I can't find anything under the search. Basically we bought some engine bars to convert 1.9 petrol WBX van to a 1.9 diesel 1Y. The engine bars we have don't appear to match any mounting points on the van. The ones we have are one piece, the rear...

Re: Cheap sprayer Hampshire
Thank you for telling me.
Think we'll have to wash it thoroughly first to get all the paint off!
Was planning to rub it down and possibly do a few minor repairs first to save time = money.
Just looking for anyone that knows anyone with a spraygun and some talent!

Re: porche adaptors?
Rather than start a new thread I thought I could piggy back this one! We've got a set of teledials but now need the adapters. I seem to have a choice of brickwerks hubcentric or eBay non hubcentric. I obviously want the hubcentric but are there any other recommendations? Nothing against BW, just wan...

Cos thats the way we would be going.[/quote] There been a few bad accidents last couple of days most people avoid lyndhurst due to the hill if you stay on the main roads only you should be fine soon as you co...
