Hi I have a 2.0l Aircooled Devon Moonraker, on the right hand side of the engine bay there are 2x cables that come through the tin ware and connect to a single cable that goes to the alternator. Just removed my twin solex from my 2.0l cu Aircooled,live near Roger Ball in Gt Clacton, had a good chat with him and my carbs are off to him at the end of the month. Thanks to Covkid for pointing me in his direction, has even offered to come round and have a look at my van .

Many thanks to all the reply's The mechanic took the arms to a friend of his they used a 50 ton press and after I showed him the replies from the forum he made up some shims and eventually got them in 5hrs later :oops: in all he spent nearly 8 hrs on them only charged me £50 and a few beers. Hi
I am replacing the trailing arms on my Devon, I had is connected the drive shafts, break lines and shocks, I will need to cut the arms off, the problem I have is that the hand break cables that pass through the back plates are stuck fast, should these just pull out with their liners.

Stripped both carbs to find the needle valves on top of the floats were stuck, cleaned them and she fired up straight away, purring like a kitten ( well sort of )

Had the engine turning over for ages it just doesnt seem to be pulling anything through, the engine hadnt been started for one and a half years, could the fuel pump be at fault.

Hi thanks for the advice, I cleaned all the earths and replaced the battery earth strap, engine turns over perfect, couldn't get it to fire up, replaced fuel filter and poured a bit of patrol down both carbs, engine ran and then stalled, it doesn't appear to be pulling any patrol through.
