Re: Ongoing problem with DVLA
I had the same problem after my 1.9 to 2.1 swap. I went into the DVLA office with the receipt from the breakers I bought the engine from and a photo of the Van (with registration visible) from which the engine came out of. This was not sufficient and they refused. Not knowing quite what to do, I pop...

Re: Bodyshop recommendation - Weston,Clevedon, Bristol
Hello Martin,
There's a garage in Clevedon called Moores Motor Cars.
They specialise in Old VWs and have a paint shop.
I can't speak for their body work, as I only used them for suspension work.
Which I was happy with.
They're so local to you, they've got to be worth a look see.

Re: 1988 T3 Sliding door rollers
The vertical roller wears through and splits in two.
change it now, don't wait until the door drops off, it's only a matter time!

Re: Coolant level switch
Hi there, You're not going to get a detailed answer unless you state your engine type. If it's a 1.9 or 2.1 wbx then not many garages have a good understanding of these, there is no head gasket as such (perhaps avoid a garage that suggests that there is one). If you have blown a seal, then it's bad ...

Re: Back wheel ticking
I had the self adjuster pawl (the bit riveted on to the shoe that engages with the adjuster) snap in half on mine.
I heard it go as I pulled away, a big springy twang sound, followed by the sort of noise you describe.
It would be worth checking the drum brake for any broken bits.

Hello Julia, There's a gentleman called Laurie Pettit in Berwickshire (not too far from yourself), who is very well regarded on the forums. http://www.lauriepettitt.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I've no experience of him myself, only what I've read and seen on TV. C...

Re: water tanks
The pipe that runs around the hatch, (either clear plastic or metal) runs to the top of the thermostat housing which has a bleed screw on top. Should be opened during the bleeding proceedure. If you've got a leak around the sensor, this would prevent the tank refilling from the top up tank, there's ...

Re: water tanks
If it's not leaking out from anywhere I cant help thinking it's trapped air. However I can only comment on my own experience, so someone else may know better. Do you open the cap when you get back from your drive, or wait for it to cool down fully? The reason I ask is that it will only refil from th...

Re: water tanks
I had problems with two tanks. The first was a GSF item. The seam halfway up the tank looked very untidy. When installed with the engine running it pee'd a narrow stream of coolant from the seam. Hard to see as it round the back, but the clouds of steam off the exhaust pointed the way. The second wa...

Re: VW T25 .. Buzzer of Doom problems
BOD means low oil pressure, low oil level could be a cause of low pressure.
There's a good write up in the wiki under DOPWS. It states that over filling can also cause the same issue as the oil foams. Worth a read if you havn't already.
Fingers crossed it's not serious.

Re: sump plug question
I had an insert split, it was a solid type rather than a coil. It came out with the sump plug. The fix for me was to fit M16 Renault plug straight into the thread left by the inset. It was 1.5 pitch and 12mm long. £3.95 from local auto factors. Hope this helps

Re: Oil Pressure Buzzer
I'll offer my standard advice. Try cleaning the earth crowns by the fuse box. It fixed a multitude of gremlins I was having with my radio, dash pod warning lights etc. wished I done it before as until the radio started playing up, I'd just been cleaning the ribbon connector and wiggling it to get th...

Re: wheel nuts
Clem, do mean that the splines are striped on the studs and you can't get the nuts off? If that's your problem, then you're going to need new nuts and studs, which is good because what I'm going to suggest will knacker both but be really quick easy and simple. Take a 16mm hole saw (got mine from B&a...

I've had oil leak through the body of an oil pressure switch on the sump of my wbx. Replace with a good quality part.
