Re: starter motor

If you are hearing the click then the switch must be working but the wiring (or the switch) could be preventing enough juice getting to the solenoid. The fact that it starts when you feed 12v from the battery to the solenoid rules out most other problems. Use the diagram below to wire a relay into y...

Re: starter motor problem driving me mad - HELP!

It could well be the switch (something in the wiring is preventing a strong 12v getting to the solenoid). The relay I have fitted has certainly done the trick for the moment but I will certainly investigate the switch if I have any more problems.

Re: Paint Codes - Brown and Cream?

Hi Matt, I'm from St Austell (some people know it as St Awful! ). We are hopefully going to do lots of camping in Cornwall too (even though I live here!) We tested the van last bank holiday at St Ives Bay holiday park which was good. I tried a bit of the L86Z Agata Brown rattle can that came w...

Re: Paint Codes - Brown and Cream?

Its a mystery! The plate under the passenger seat has no reference to colours or codes as far as I can see. There are no stickers left between the pedals and the dash. The plate on the door pillar only seems to have information on vehicle weight etc. My local paint place can match paint but I seem t...

Re: starter motor problem driving me mad - HELP!

:ok Cheers for all the replies guys there are now lots of things for me to check! It looks like I have found the ideal place for all my present and future T25 problems :D Tonight I have wired up the relay so that the solenoid feed gets a good strong 12v without needing to go 2 lengths of the van. It...

Re: starter motor problem driving me mad - HELP!

cheers for all the replies guys, I'll get it sorted soon! I'm ruling out battery problems due to the fact that I have drop tested the battery and also get the same problem when using jump leads. I am also assuming the ignition switch is ok as I consistently get a click from the solenoid. Before I re...

Re: starter motor problem driving me mad - HELP!

It started fine but the next day 'Click'......dam intermittent problems! Am I right in thinking that the power is getting to the starter becausethe headlights do d...

Re: starter motor problem driving me mad - HELP!

cheers for the replies. The fact that i always get the click made me assume the switch and feed wire are ok... Any thoughts? I just went through the paperwork and the starter was replaced last March so i guess no warrenty and the garage that replaced it are 200 miles away anyway. As i said before wh...

Re: Paint Codes - Brown and Cream?

I had a look on the BrickYard which had some good info on paint codes but there seems to be a an error on the dates as there is nothing between 31.07.1986 and 01.08.1987 (mine is Feb 07 :? ) http://brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpecific/T3/info/colour.htm I initially thought the codes were: IVORY R10 MOCH...

Re: Paint Codes - Brown and Cream?

Cheers for the codes (hope you didn't get wet!) I found a link to another site with the different paint codes used for different years. It looks like they are different  http://www.gti16v.com/vwcc1979.htm#vwcc1979 http://www.gti16v.com/vwcc1987.htm#vwcc1987 Anyone else got a brown and cream T25...
