Eberspacher revival? Reading area
Oue '89 westy eberspacher has been on my fix list for quite a long time. Ideally looking for someone who could have a look at getting it working again...? Problems started with failing to light - when switched on, relay clicked and power drawn, and fan came on, then after a few seconds it would let ...

Re: Van woes - advice sought...
Nope, the fitters supplied the engine. I just have zero confidence that anyone who would do the job as badly would actually improve things significantly with a second visit. They've offered money back if I return the engine, but of course that still leaves me without an engine, and without sump, tur...

Van woes - advice sought...
So, the short of it is this, following the fitting of a 'reconditioned' engine I find myself minus working engine, plus thanks to the replacement of my sump with a cracked one and various other bodged/broken bits just fitting a better recon engine may be a rather expensive option given the need to s...

Re: Planning to go to the north of Scotland in a couple of weeks
Thanks very much for all the advice - ended up taking care of snowed in 92 year old grandma down near Macclesfield for the week, so no camping and no Scotland this time - some decent days hiking in sub zero temperatures made me feel sufficiently hardy though... Have to get up there in the new year.....

Re: Planning to go to the north of Scotland in a couple of weeks
Not really sure where - the plan is just to head north and see what happens - have got about 10 days, but can be flexible, and I'm happy to cover ground if needed...though the last big trip I went on did perhaps have a few too many 8 hour drives. Just wondering what the collective wisdom would recco...

Re: Planning to go to the north of Scotland in a couple of weeks
Hmmm, nice! Except for 80mph winds and HGVs blowing over - thats more ...interesting... Lots to think about there...cairngorms for sure By the way, has anyone got experience of what happens to westy water tanks in sub-zero temps? Not that I'm expecting it to be that bad this soon, but you never know...

Planning to go to the north of Scotland in a couple of weeks
Was wondering where would be reccomended - we were thinking of heading up to cape wrath, just because...well, just because But any recomendations for places to go, things to see, in Scotland at this time of year would be gratefully recieved... Wild, and wild camping is the preference! Cheers in adva...

Re: No flame visible when running fridge on gas
Hmm if that's true then I'll stop being so concerned about fridge performance :) Still need to work out why the ignitor's going for no reason though... Though since disconnecting and reconnecting everything on the fridge at least the LED on the westy panel seems to be working right (ie going out aft...

Re: No flame visible when running fridge on gas
Tried gently twisting at the fridge end (can reach it through the grille), and then tried slightly more firmly - until the pipe from the fridge started moving, didn't want to risk damage at that end...My thinking was that if i broke it getting it off it would be better to do it at the end shown in m...

Re: No flame visible when running fridge on gas
Hah! well I'd rather have that problem to be honest - I see you're based in portugal, was down in that part of the world in may (morocco and back, first trip in the van) and the fridge was definitely struggling when it was 40 degrees  Just had a go at getting the fridge out to have a look roun...

Re: No flame visible when running fridge on gas
Thought I'd post here rather than start a new thread - Still having problems with the fridge, the main one being that, with the fridge running on gas, after some hours of operation the ignitor will start clicking as if the fridge has gone out. Very annoying when it happens in the middle of the night...

Re: Exhaust weld failed twice...
Thanks very much!
Have now worked out that it is the N/S bracket that's missing, ordered from the link very considerately provided by pirate-pete, and all is well again!
Cheers for all the help given,
Charlie
