Re: What Engine?
What about a mk3 gti? I know several people who have them and theyre another good combination of performance and economic driving. For what its worth i think youre doing the right thing. I hated being stuck with the lorries on the inside lane of the motorway and sometimes overtaken on hills.I know m...

Re: Returning to T25 world
Several T25 owners and traders I've spoken to prefer/would only go for a van with a replacement engine, so usually a 1.9D or TD. I personally wouldn't buy a T25 with any of the original engines with the possible exception of the 1.6TD. You can't be sure of the providence/history of many old engines....

Re: Don't shoot me[T4 related]
I have both at present but bought the T4 after selling an earlier T25 we owned. The T4 does everything I want. It's the 1.9 TD later model, cruises all day at 70. Yes it takes hills just fine! It's not going to win any races but that's not really why I'm interested in vans. It's been faultless, reli...

Re: Welding and Paint Costs
Hi I've had quite a bit of bodywork done on classic cars and vans and use a bloke/small company in Birkenhead. He's often working on classics, most recently a Bristol. His work and his prices are very good. I couldn't say whether or not he's familiar with the T25 but it could be worth the half hour ...

Petrol gearbox in a diesel van??
Allowing for the required changes when fitting, and ensuring the final drive/gearing ratios are right for the engine (1.9 1Y), is there any reason why a four speed 'petrol' gearbox shouldn't replace a five speed diesel box?

Re: Novice T25 owner needs mechanical skills!
I'd love there to be a technical meet up, particularly for novices/amateurs. I'm keen to get to know more about the T25. Techenders for the T25 anyone?? I'd be happy to find a location - Merseyside/Cheshire area. Maybe one Saturday in October??

Re: Engine upgrade maybe !
Yes I'm talking about the five speed which was the original gearbox in our van and is still fitted. Its a good fit for the 1y and like the previous poster says it creates a good bit of acceleration at all speeds. The downside is its low ratio which limits the top speed. Anything over 65 is a bit rev...
