Edited - HM Was given some advice on here and followed it up by speaking to a guy called Russel from Syncro-Nutz who suggested that I get a 4-speed petrol and do some conversion work. My mechanic didn't seem too impressed with this and has gone away to consult some oracle and will get back to me; ho...

A couple of hundred pounds is very cheap compared to what I have been quoted and my mechanic says that the gearbox is in too many bits for a re-build Really looking for any suggestions on salvage.....have tried many, many places. Thanks

Hello, just joined and already need help Have a 1986 Transporter with a 1.9TD Passat engine. The gearbox died several months ago and is in bits with my mechanic. Have been unsuccessful in locating a suitable replacement that is sensibly priced; any advice greatly received, thanks
