Been working on this for a while and am quite frustrated at this point. Has anyone got any advice? It will start and run ok for a ...

Need help
Am stuck in north Yorkshire. Think i lost a cylinder on my 81 air cooled van. Anyone know a good mechanic in the area? We are staying in skipton tonight. Will get it checked out tomorrow but I am thinking of limping it the 3-4 hrs home. It's leaking a lot of oil and running really rough.

Re: injection 2.0l Aircooled?!
Mine is an Aircooled, fuel injection, German spec westfalia. I actually just got my haynes manual for Christmas. Could have used it a year ago! It get OK mileage I guess. Cant see it being much better than a carburated one though.

Yes the second large post I am speaking of is connected to the case itself. I know it may damage it but it cant get any worse right now I think.

Re: engine wont turn over...part 2
Ok, The solenoid is engaging and causing the gear to pop out like it is supposed to when I arc from the main post to a smaller post. When I arc across the 2 large posts I get nothing. I am guessing the starter motor itself is gone. I really appreciate the response ghost123uk.

engine wont turn over...part 2
Ok, so i got the starter out easy enough, took it apart and cleaned it a bit. Everything actually looked really clean. All the brushes look great. Put it back together, tested it and...nothing, just like when it was on the van. I assumed that if the solenoid was bad that the starter would at least t...

Re: engine wont turn over
I actually cleaned all the connection last wekend. Removed the earth srta, cleaned it all up, and replaced it. Cleaned all the connections in the entire system. Think I may have to take the starter apart and clean it up a little. Any known issues with this or just a couple of bolts holding it on lik...
