Thanks for all your responses....I ended concluding that there is a carbon deposit build up which continued to burn ( yeh, like I should know!) I just got a bottle of stuff that cleans injectors,valves and pistons. Problem solved after adding to tank and a little run. Cheers

No water in oil, so ok there. I have just ran it for 10mins and watched carefully with engine cover off and yes water is seeping from hexagonal black plastic nut on expansion tank.
