Great, thanks I'll give that a try :)

Temperature gauge red flashing light

Hi all I have successfully installed a Subaru EJ20 into my van, and it runs brilliantly, making hills a doddle now! I've been back on the road a few months and just need to sort out a couple of bits, mainly the red flashing light on the temperature gauge. I'm aware of how it is supposed to work with...

Re: Plywood door cards any good?

I think I posted this question a while back, but can't seem to find my post. I have a Caravelle with poor condition original door cards..thinking of getting a pre cut set for £90 on eBay... any thoughts on these? Thanks Emma :) I've had some of these Emma. They're not too bad if a little oversized ...

Re: Temperature gauge needle and blinking light

I've been having a think about this and I remembered long ago when used to work in the motor trade that we used to sell dashboard voltage regulators for the gauges and lo and behold there some forums on here that discuss the regulator, and associated problems if it fails. Also see this link on the W...

Re: Temperature gauge needle and blinking light

I had a problem a while ago where the light would not stop flashing. Checked the coolant level, and level sensor and all was OK. I traced it eventually to the printed circuit board behind the dashboard where the copper(?) contacts were corroded. Cleaned them all up with some very fine abrasive paper...

Re: Unable to unlock sliding door from the outside

Thanks guys. I thought it would be something like that. There certainly wasn't anything there when I took it off so I guess it's been lost previously. I went to my local VW dealer a while ago and had a look at their parts sytem but the guy couldn't identify the if I had something missing or not. Do ...

Unable to unlock sliding door from the outside

Hello everybody. When I bought my van (RHD 1985) the sliding door lock did not work (barrel was siezed) and the door had to be unlocked from the inside. I did as many people have done and went down the road of trying to free off the tumblers and springs of the door lock barrel. For me this was unsuc...

Re: coolant level light

still no joy is there a relay for this or is that only on later models mine is 1.9 petrol 1984 :? Hi, I had a similar problem but the other way round; the light wouldn't stop flashing and the gauge always read high. The levels were all OK, and the header tank sensor was fine. I eventually traced it...

Re: Temp light flashing

Re the temp light flashing, I had the same and set about resolving it today. I checked the coolant levels in the expansion tank and header tank, all OK. I checked the sensor in the top of the header tank and even linked across the two terminals to mimic a full tank and the light was still on. After ...

Re: going to make new door cards

We found the following material at Ikea http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20177903" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's a plastic coated material of which we bought about 7 metres to do all of our interior trim cards. We've used some spare laminate floor (thin foam)...

Sliding door handle

Hi everyone I've been sold what was supposed to be a late handle but when I went to fit it I found that the back of it is too long, i.e the square pin with the screw hole and the barrel itself are longer than the one I have taken out. The fella I bought it from says that he has sent me a late handle...
