I had this problem, i converted my 2.1 to take a Golf gti engine. I Found the off side fitted fine, so i copied the front mount and made a plate then welded it to that bar.

Yes its very daunting, But once you have made a few cuts all comes clear. It makes sense how all the seams are joined and you can usually get to them to spot weld. I started by drilling a few small holes to see where they came out the other side lol

I think you would spend more time trying to loose the line with filler work, Might be quicker to just do the whole rear arch. I just did mine and it wasnt that hard at all. Just cutt off the old arch then ground back the spot welds and then prep it for new arch. took me about 3 hours to do it, i am ...

Its not really a bodge they will fit on fine with wobble bolts/nuts, the bolt holes may have been opened slightly to fit.

I have just done the front arches and cab steps on mine, and it wasn't as hard as i expected. But im not at all looking forward to doing the rears :( it looks tricky to cut along the seam line and get a nice seam back in, good luck! i know ill need it :lol: Jon

just to add the the highjack i made this other night, just chopped off the tailpipe and welded a bit of stainless with a bend in
