Been having problems starting my 1Y diesel. It takes ages to start then sounds like it's only running on one cylinder for a few seconds until it 'kicks in' then I get loads of white smoke. I've changed the glow plugs & it hasn't made any difference...

Thanks people, it was exaclty what you said.

It didn't take much effort to get the 2 parts of the linkage apart so it looks like it may have slipped. I may look at getting a new linkage when I get back off holiday as I suppose the splines must be pretty worn.
