I'm no expert, but have you considered it might be your starter motor?

White smoke and loss of water

Just had a slow journey through town, loads of traffic, stop start then up a steep hill noticed loads of white smoke coming out the back, red light on temp guage flashing. Pulled over, water pissing out.

Is this the end of my engine??

Where can I buy a vacuum advance unit from?

Hello,

I need to replace the vacuum advance unit (?) on my distributor (1.9 DG). Does anyone know where I can buy one from?

Kev, Thanks for the advice. I got it going and took it to a garage. They've tested it and can't find anything wrong with it. Last time it had a service (July 2006 at a different garage) they said the vacuum unit on the distributor was 'weak'. Could it be this I'm wondering? I suppose it wouldn't hur...

Kathy,

Yes I'm after a 1.9 DG also. Do you have a website or phone number for elite?

Thanks

More technical anxiety!!

Sorry, to keep going on everyone. I posted a couple of times in the past week about my distributor and the kangoaroo behaviour of my van. I noticed there's white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Suspect the head gasket is blown on the right bank, was forewarned by a VW specialist last year about thi...

Wow, the 009 is not a popular component. I had one fitted to my T2 and it was very good. Never missed a beat.

Thanks for the adivce. I think I'll go for the replacement unit from VAG, thanks for that code louislucas.

009 distributor is it an upgrade?

The vacuum unit on my distributor is weak, apparently. Thiking about buying one of JK's cheapo non-brand 009s to replace it. Anyone got anything good to say about this?

Kangaroo behaviour again

My van is behaving like a kangaroo again. It does not rev consistently and cuts out. Whilst driving today I felt it go as I was trying to overtake in 3rd. I managed to keep the revs up and limped into work, but it was a rough ride - juddering and lurching. When I tried to get home it would start fin...

Kangaroo behaviour

Hi, My van has started behaving very strangely. It seems to lose power suddenly and then lurch and die several times before running ok, then it loses power again. It has stalled on me. I figure it must be something to do with the fuel supply as it starts up OK. I've made a speculative request for a ...
