Re: Gearbox Oil Change- step by step
. People get anxtious because their 'mind set' remains in VAUXHALL VECTRA mode when it needs to be reset to the 'CHILL T3' setting. I think this sums it up, I need to try and take my time and not get too stressed about it. Have just dug out some paperwork and it look as though it was changed about ...

Re: Gearbox Oil Change- step by step
Thanks for the replies so far guys,. I have had a look on the Wicki, which has helped a bit. It's a 5 speed box, I find it tricky between 1 st and 2nd gear changes. I took the van out for the first time in a month or so, on a good run, is there any technique I can try on the clutching and declutchin...

Gearbox Oil Change- step by step
Hello, I have noticed that going from 1st to 2nd can be a little tricky, it resists a bit, especially when cold and not been used for a while. I am thinking I should check/change the gearbox oil. Can anyone give me a step by step method, I.e. Starting with how to locate the fill and drain plugs etc....

Re: Which battery
Hello, I went for a Bosch one last week, the S4 range. 4 year guarantee and also have high CCA (Cold start) ratings. My van is a 1988 1.6 TD, and I went for the S4007/100 which fits in the battery holder easily. Best price I found was here: http://www.caraccessoriesandparts.co.uk/bosch-batteries/s40...

I will ring around tomorrow and see now much for servicing existing one, was just thinking it might be wise o carry a spare on longer trips.
Thanks again!

Re: Is my alternator right?
Hi Cruz,
thanks for getting back to me!
Doh... Sounds like I have made a booboo. That part number was on a black plastic 'block' which I thought was part of the alternator...
I'll go and have another look

Is my alternator right?
Hi, My 1988 1.6TD JX currently has the following alternator on it: Bosch 1 197 311 021 EL 14 V. 4C 062 This doesn't seem to match what comes up as the right one when looking for a new one online. I think the 062 means 62A ??? I was just looking to get a spare as going to do some mileage this year an...

I think I'll go for the Bosch, although it's a bit more ££££ it's a well known brand and has a longer warranty.
Thanks again

Re: Starter battery question
I could do with being sense-checked here. Can anyone offer advice as to whether I should pay the extra for the Bosch one? never heard of Lion batteries, apparantly they supply Eurocarparts though? http://www.bargainbatteries.co.uk/items/34/new-car-battery-100 http://www.boschbatteries.com/car/s4007-...

Hi Jed,
Do you mind me asking which battery you went for and where you got it from in the end?
Cheers

Hello All, Right, another battery question for you! My starter battery has finally given up, have tried recharging but it just isn't holding the charge over night, so new battery time. The battery in the van at the moment is a Unipart GBA3100 which according to the label is 64 amp hrs, RC120 and a C...

Re: Diesel fuel filter.... How to change
Thanks Docklad..
Is that a big or an easy job? I am new to the whole mechanical thing, don't want to tackle something and make things worse!(highly probable if you ask my other half about my DIY skills!)
Thanks!
