Re: Replacement Leisure Battery
I gave up looking for a leisure battery for my camper to fit in that space. I just buy a regular battery. Never had a problem.

Re: battery being drained
Hiya So somebody before you has been tinkering. I know and have used a local West London car electrician to sort things out on my camper. He's the guy local garages go to when they cannot sort a problem out. He's so very thorough and always finds and fixes the problem. He comes to you and he charges...

Re: Westfalia pop top canvas replacement
The reason for the lack of canvas replacements in the UK, is because there is no incentive to make them here. Too few Westies. I got mine from Gunzl in Germany. They have most of the Westie parts that nobody else provides. I went for a three vent version, as the side vents can be partially opened wh...

Re: Electric motor homes and camper vans
I saw the CEO of BP being interviewed a couple of days ago. He explained that his company is moving away from oil and gas production towards building renewables. They now have a programme of installing electric charging units at all their service stations. They plan to move out of gas and oil produc...

Re: Dashboard lights not working
I had this problem and found that it was just a connection problem. There should be a white oblong multi connector about 50mm long under the dashboard, behind the steering column. This should be accessible without taking anything apart (check to see with a torch) if no modifications have been carr...

Re: Advice on 1.9DG Cold starting funny
Could it be as simple as a perished vacuum hose connected to the carb/choke unit? I had a similar problem a while ago and replaced the four bits of hose on my DF engine and the problem was solved. To check if this is the problem, start the engine, spray some WD40 along the hose. If the hose is peris...

Re: Rocker cover oil leak with new gaskets
The thickness of the cork gaskets vary. I've had this problem in the past. My guess is that Brickwerks will have the correct ones.

Re: Electric motor homes and camper vans
I saw a T2 camper parked next to a local charging point yesterday. I thought that this was a selfish act. Then I saw that it was plugged in. I assume that the engine and gearbox have been removed. I must find out what mods have been carried out. The camper is called 'Olive'.

Re: Won't restart if engine is hot...
I had this problem, which was intermittent but only happened after a long journey. Left the van for a couple of hours to cool down and the problem went away. Different garages tried everything to fix it but nothing solved the problem. So, I decided to get a brand new old stock carb fitted. After tha...

Rear fog lamp lens cover repair needed
I fitted a plastic rear fog lamp from China to my vehicle. It's what I would call brittle plastic. Anyway, the lens has been cracked and come off and I was wondering what is the best type of glue to fix it back together with. There are so many on the market, but most glues don't seem right. It needs...

Re: Early 1981 air-cooled not starting after fusebox cleanup
Vege had a good reputation 20 years ago for rebuilding engines. I was told by my local garage that then the engines were rebuilt in Holland by the company itself. It was evidently taken over by somebody who changed the procedure. Now they are rebuilt by back street guys all over the place. Following...

Re: Early 1981 air-cooled not starting after fusebox cleanup
Can't help with the wiring. However, I suggest that you replace the plastic fuses with ceramic ones. Heat can soften the plastic ones causing connection problems. Good luck.
