Re: Early 1981 air-cooled not starting after fusebox cleanup
Vege had a good reputation 20 years ago for rebuilding engines. I was told by my local garage that then the engines were rebuilt in Holland by the company itself. It was evidently taken over by somebody who changed the procedure. Now they are rebuilt by back street guys all over the place. Following...

Can't help with the wiring. However, I suggest that you replace the plastic fuses with ceramic ones. Heat can soften the plastic ones causing connection problems. Good luck.

Re: Electric motor homes and camper vans
Now that our government has said no petrol/diesel cars to be sold after 2035, the writing is on the wall for our 19th century technology. No doubt there will be a decrease in the number of petrol/diesel stations well before that date, as their profits decline. That will be a pain and will accelerate...

Re: Brickwerks wheel arch liners - thoughts?
Sorry to revive an ancient thread - but are there any updates how people are getting on with these? I'd imagine there's a few more out there by now! Worth it? They work really well. I fitted self tapping screws in them just to make sure they didn't move. They keep all the muck and water away from v...

Ethanol added to petrol
I've been avoiding cheap fuels that include 10% ethanol to preserve my fuel hoses for years. That's been fine until recently. Now, my local Shell stations are only selling petrol, both standard and super with 5% ethanol added. Is this a general policy of fuel suppliers to cut costs? Will there be a ...

Re: Pulsating break pedal
I had this problem. It was caused by uneven wear on the rear wheel hubs causing the rear brakes to pulsate. Replaced those and the problem went away.

Re: Starting and idle problems carb
I had a similar problem a few years ago. The van started fine from cold but when it warmed up it stalled. It turned out that the vacuum hoses attached to my Solex carb were perished. They looked ok but were not. I bought some replacement hose, cut it into the four pieces needed and hey presto proble...

You say it rattles like crazy for the first 20 minutes at the best of times. What oil have you been using?

Re: Engine juddering
It has had new vacuum lines where necessary You say 'where necessary'. I assume one or other have been changed but not all. Perished hose can cause your problem, even when it looks ok. I suggest that you buy al length of vacuum hose, cut it to size and replace all of them. The hose is cheap, so if ...

Re: mechanical advise needed 1983 T25
Before rebuilding the engine, have you replaced the 4 short vacuum hoses that connect around the carb? I had a problem with sudden unexpected stalling. It turned out that the vacuum hoses were perished so the vacuum wasn't working. I bought a length of hose for about £2 cut it into the required leng...

Re: No indicators, wipers, horn, blower
Starting at the beginning:
1) When did these problems occur?
2) Have you been driving the van lately?
4) Did all electrics mentioned fail at the same time?
