Re: svda electronic distributor - no spark
Okay, One more question, Do I also need an 'Ignition module' in order for the electronic dizzy to work. I don't think I have one and I'm thinking that that may be the reason why my new dizzy is doing nothing. No spark or anything. I put back the 009 dizzy and the engine starts. I have no idea what i...

svda electronic distributor - no spark
Hi, I've just bought a new electronic SVDA distributor and coil for my 1982 T25 CU 2.0 as I was running the 009 points dizzy before and I wanted to upgrade. In a nut shell I have no spark when turning over. I also don't have any idle stabilising unit - Do I need one of these units to make the new el...

Re: fuel gauge problem
The four pin connector is above the fuse box, look for a lilac with black trace wire. To test the gauge use a length of electrical cable with bare ends probe one end into the connector of the lilac/black wire making sure it connects with the metal contacts and touch the other end to a good earth poi...

fuel gauge problem
Hi all, I have a 1982 T25 VW Aircooled camper 2.0l CU petrol engine. A couple of days a go my fuel gauge stopped working as I was switching over the reverse light spade connectors on the gearbox. I'm not sure if it that had anything to do with the fuel gauge going or not. I heard a click from behind...

alloy wheel ET
Hi, I have some alloy wheels which I've just bought and they have an ET of 25mm...I have a VW T25 Transporter Aircooled 2.0 1982 camper. My question is will these alloy wheels fit okay with an ET of 25mm? I found the following site http://www.carlsalter.com/volkswagen-wheel-fitments.html" oncli...

Sorry, no I don't need the Bently book... I'm selling the van as soon as I've fixed the misfire problems.
I've decided to walk away from the VW T25 scene

Re: oil pressure 10psi
Measured how? If it's a dash gauge, there's no guarantee it's accurate. 15 psi is low, as above, min 29 psi at 2000 rpm. I'd expect to see rather more on a cold engine, around 3 bar (~43 psi), oil pressure will be lower on a hot engine (hot oil is thinner, doesn't pump so well) so if that's a readi...

Re: oil pressure 10psi
Many thanks for that. I don't have the bentley book.
My engine has 10psi when cold then rises up to about 15psi when revving. I guess that's not to bad?

oil pressure 10psi
Hi, I've looked everywhere on here for some info regarding what the normal oil pressure in a 2.0 cu Aircooled engine should be. I've also checked wiki but no joy...I've been told that my bus has an oil pressure of 10 (I'm assuming that means 10 psi and not 10 bar) Does anyone know what the correct o...

Re: More problems
I will take some pics of the engine tinware as soon as I get it back from the garage. The guy is looking at taking off the cylinder heads etc and seeing what needs doing. He did a compression test and 2,3 & 4 were 120 and no. 1 was 50...the garage that I took it to a couple of weeks previously s...

Re: More problems
I've just found a mechanic down here in Breage who seems to know what he is doing :ok Time will tell. The flaps in the engine bay hadn't had the spring set so were fitted closed! ...what are they then? :( I don't have any flaps/springs - is that bad? As for tinware - my local garage when removing a ...

Re: £700 spent so far and still no solution!!!
Hi, I would not go anywhere near Nigel Allen if I were you! In my opinion he's bloody useless! - read my previous postings and you will find out why! In a nutshell he didn't have a clue as to what was wrong with the engine he fitted in my van - 3 years and the engine he fitted has never run smooth e...

lead fuel additive
Well I've finally solved the problem of the worn valve seats/inlet valves and low compression which has dogged my van for the past 3 years - lead fuel additive. I've never used it 'cause I was told not to, that now appears to have been a mistake. Not all engines were built to run lead free! I have o...

Re: More problems
The tin-ware around the engine is there for a very good reason. A couple a bits of ducting pointing towards the cylinder heads are going to be next to useless at controlling the engine temperature. Didn't your van have a new engine fitted a while ago? What happened to the tinware? I picked the van ...
