Re: Panels

Thanks for the reply, the only alternative is a panel from a broken van, but then there is no guarantee that it will be in good condition or genuine.

Panels

Hi,

Where would I find the best quality panels? I need to replace the back nearside panel, obviously there is JK, VW heritage and Schofields, are there any more?

Thanks

Window Filler Strips & info on Bonded Windows

Hi, I'm just refurbing my windows and my chrome filler strips are a bit crap and not very chrome anymore, so I'm looking to get some new ones, but I'm considering just to go for the black rubber replacements, I've had a look at the wiki and looked at the companies there, http://www.vintagecarparts.c...

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if you can change the chrome trim insert for the black rubber trim insert and vice versa?

Re: Gearbox Questions, T25 and Beetle

I'm toying around with a V6 at the moment, thinking about building a trike, the trouble with trikes is that they are all bodged out of box section or angle and are about 50ft too long. Basically I'd like to have a reasonably short wheelbase, I was going to run without a gearbox and have direct drive...

Gearbox Questions, T25 and Beetle

Hi,

Can either of the gearboxes be run upside down?

Where are the linkages on each of the gearbox's, I think I've read somewhere that the Beetles are on the side.

Thanks.

There was an electric van for sale on ebay about 6 months ago, It could have been ebay USA it was linked to from here or the brick-yard, I think they were made for a canadian power company to advertise electricity.

Heat the nuts before using the powerbar again, on the stuck nut use a nut splitter or a grinder (nut splitters are not nearly as fun. YEEHA    ) And before you say, I've not got a grinder, you can buy a 4 1/2 inch grinder from Wilkinsons for £14.99, then you need safety glasses, glove...

Re: has my engine seized?

Bad connection? Bad battery? Bad starter? Try new wire connect it directly (not in the van) to the battery Try new starter on other battery (old battery still got a bit of charge?) Take starter back to company to test. You have to ask why the van didn't start in the first place, mine starts within t...

Scooby,

Whats the benefit of the 4 over the 5?

The information I found was that the Aircooled diesel 4 speed was the best to go for but I could not get definitive information why.

I've replaced my 1.9 with the 2.2 and I run a 5 speed with it and I'm happy with it. Some may say the 1st gear is a bit low bit I find it ok, I was looking to change to a 4 speed but after some investigation and some questions, the general consensus is it wasn't worth the cost, probably betst to run...

Likewise, went subaru, coz there was one handy. and the conversion cost less than a wbx engine, electrics wasn't too difficult, took a bit of time, but I now understand efi better.

More power, smoother running, choice of easy to find cheap engines, and dare I say better economy.

First problems since conversion

Well its been a year since the conversion has been on the road, three problems have occurred: 1) Sticky throttle mechanism, cleaned and now slippy 2) Fuel filter buggered up, this has been replaced with an external one from an early astra GTE same as a Cavalier I think. 3) Lambda probe failed, on st...
