Re: Diesel Engine Battery Dimensions
Thanks for your help with this. Van back up and running now! Auxilliary shaft seal went on 6 month old engine so van spilled most of its oil all over road..... Not happy! Battery died at same time due to hazards being on for hours I guess?!

Diesel Engine Battery Dimensions
Need a new battery for the engine bay of my diesel van. It's at the garage for at the moment so can't check the dimensions! I'm thinking it will be cheaper for me to buy one than let them replace it! The websites are suggesting a battery with a dimension of 278mm length by 175mm width and 175mm heig...

Re: Major oil leak!
Just so I fully understand, other than a fault with the feed or return pipes and their connections is there any other way a turbo could cause an engine to discharge most of its oil in a few miles?
Apologies if this is another daft question!
Thanks.

Re: Major oil leak!
Phil,
The rigid feed pipe from the bottom of the oil filter to the turbo looks fine but didn't notice a support on it. I'll check later!
Thanks.

Re: Major oil leak!
I've attached a picture of where the return feed connects back to the sump(?) from the turbo. Does that look right? Should the pipe be round where it connects?
Cheers

Re: Major oil leak!
Might be a stupid question this but is there anyway of seeing the turbo/connections without removing all the tinware etc? Could I hang a camera down somewhere to get a shot?
Cheers

Re: Major oil leak!
Thanks Aidan.
Brand new feed and return pipes were fitted at garage. Engine refurbed 8 months ago so hopefully it won't be that serious!!

Major oil leak!
Just set off from berwick on way home from hols. Up to about 50mph on A1 when oil light starts flashing and buzzer of doom sounds! Pulled straight over, there was a spray of oil on bikes on bikes rack. Looked under van to see what looks to be all the engine oil pouring onto the road! Had a new turbo...

Jx td engine advice
I've recently had my engine refurbed but it's been using around a litre of oil per 1000 miles. The oil pressure is fine and compression tests show 340 to 360 psi. There's no noticeable oil smoke from the exhaust but there is some diesel smoke when you put the throttle down. The garage have suggested...

Re: Which oil?!
Looks like my oil consumption is not as much as some but would be interested to know if 2l for 3600km (2250 miles) is considered acceptable for a newly refurbed engine? Seems quite a lot to me but don't really know much about engines!!

Re: Which oil?!
Got back home with 3,600km on the clock and 2 litres of oil consumed. Topped up with 15/40 from Carrefour. Would you consider that normal consumption for a refurb engine that's 6 months old? There's no smoke coming from the exhaust other than a small amount when first starting up from cold. This loo...

Which oil?!
I'm on holiday in the French alps and need to top up the oil in my camper. It's a jx td and the oil that was used at the last service was 20/50. Been in various places and can't find any of that grade. This might be a stupid question but what oil should I use? Is it better to get closer to the 50 ie...

Re: Missing Oil Cap
Thanks for your advice. Did not think to check oil level when I got it back! Did smell a bit of diesel but did not think anything of it. The exhaust only blew a cloud of smoke out when starting in morning after cold nights and was clear at starting on an afternoon from cold so did not look to be bur...

Missing Oil Cap
Just checked my oil after Easter hols to find the oil cap missing? Done around 800 miles on the engine which is new since getting it back from garage. Oil level is just around the minimum now and there's no sign of oil leaking out. Should I be worried about this?
