Solenoid clicks but van doesn't always start
Sometime van starts first time, sometimes it just clicks and starter motor doesn't turn but then might after a few goes. I have checked that the starter spade connection on the solenoid is clean and tight. What would be the next things to check please?

Re: Removing thermostat housing 1.9 DG
Thanks to everyone for the advice. The head is so badly rusted I can't get the Sealy bolt extractors to grip it. Current plan unless anybody can suggest a better plan! Am going to try to turn it with a tiny mole wrench but I doubt that will work. The will see if I can cut the bolt head off and get t...

Removing thermostat housing 1.9 DG
Most of the head of the lower bolt has rusted. Any advise on removing the lower bolt would be much appreciated. I am thinking maybe cut off the plastic thermostat and then put lots of penetrating oil on the bolt and try to get it off.

Gear linkage bellows
Hi is it easy to replace the small bellows that cover the guide at the bottom of the gear change mechanism that you access by removing the spare wheel. My bellows are spit. Would I have to dismantle anything to replace these bellows please? I guess it is just a little awkward to get at. Thanks Brian

Re: which leisure battery is best for a T25?
Reply to question about adapter strips for the varta battery. They are just small strips that change the profile and height of the lower lips at the front and rear of the battery. They enable the standard VW clamp to hold the battery securely in place. I don't usually run more than lights from the b...

Soot in tailpipe 1.9 DG 1990
I have a bit of sooty deposit in the tail pipe after a long journey. I had an unfortunate incident where a road side repair company fiddled with the idle screw a few months ago when this was not the fault. I reset it with a Gunson CO meter. It is running fine but as I say there is a bit of soot insi...

Re: which leisure battery is best for a T25?
Furthur news about my Varta Professional LFD75. Varta have kindly sent me an adapter kit to modify the battery to fit VW. Battery is now excellent fit and sits nicely under passenger seat. Very pleased with this. Cheapest I found for it was at http://www.caraccessoriesandparts.co.uk" onclick=&q...

Re: Leisure battery rating
Thanks for your help Kev. Varta LFD75 battery now in place but I haven't quite managed to clamp it properly. I think I need to get some plastic strips for the base which unfortunately didn't come with the battery. I have placed a wanted ad as my local garage doesn't have any.

Re: which leisure battery is best for a T25?
I have just put a VARTA LFD75 as a replacement under the passenger seat. It fits nicely but I need to modify the clamping arrangement slightly from my previous battey which had thicker base clamping lips.

Re: Leisure battery rating
Thanks that's good news.
My charger has two settings standard and gel. I don't think my battery is a gel type. It doesn't say gel anywhere on it. But it is a leisure deep cycle battery. Presumably I should just use standard setting? Any ideas?
Many thanks
Brian

Leisure battery rating
I am planning to replace a 45Ah leisure battery with a 75aH leisure battery. My alternator is only rated at 45 Amps. Am I likely to run into any problems?

Jacking points
Hi I have just bought a good quality secondhand trolley jack. I am not sure where the places are which are safe to jack up my van. If anybody could draw me a little diagram or something that would be very helpful.
Thanks
Brian
Thanks

Re: 1.9 DG Wont idle
Thanks Kev
Will what the AA did have messed things up? I assumed that if I just adjust the idle screw (the one inside the long pipe thing )to a position where the idle speed is about right then all would be well. Am I being too simplistic ? !

1.9 DG Wont idle
Hi my 1990 T25 1.9 DG broke down on the M25 in heavy traffic. We had been crawling along for about an hour when suddenly the engine wouldn't idle. It restarted easily but wouldn't idle it just stalled. The AA came and he got us going - I think he opened the idle screw on the carb by a massive amount...
