Re: golf mk2 1.6 td suitable replacement for 1.7d KY

Apologies about delay in responding - thanks for replies. I have now realised that there is no advantage in the golf 1.6td and will start looking for a golf 1.9td. When I have cleared out the garage and sorted a few other things I will start collecting necessary extras (including gearbox etc). ta Alan

golf mk2 1.6 td suitable replacement for 1.7d KY

HI I have a 1987 1.7 KY t25 campervan. The engine is OK (doesn't use oil or make horrible noises) as it chugs albeit a bit slowly. However I am thinking ahead as I plan to improve the van (bodywork, mechanicals and interior etc). As part of the improvements I intend putting a more powerful engine in...

Re: Wiring split chargers

Wiring split chargers

Hi I have had a T3 1.7d 1987 converted panel van for over two years, and have been slowly getting round to carrying out mechanical jobs. The van has limited history so I have also been checking things. Even though the split charger was working OK, as far as I could tell (leisure battery charged and ...

Re: COOLANT HOSE FOR 1.7 DIESEL

Hi again I have checked the Brickwerks site and this hose has not appeared yet. Can I assume that this is because you are still waiting for delivery. Ta Jockstrap

COOLANT HOSE FOR 1.7 DIESEL

Hi I have a Sept 1987 1.7 diesel. On the way to Tenby for the Bank Holiday w/e, the coolant light started flashing. I eventually worked out that the coolant level was low due losing water from a split in the thermostat housing/radiator/header tank/oil cooler house. Fortunately the split was on the t...

Re: Gearbox oil change

I used Gforce EP 80w90 Hypoid Gear Oil Mineral GL5 Spec CC GFJ 455 manufactured by Tetrosyl Ltd. This was done before I discoverd this site!! Can someone please tell m...
