Re: Fridge Panel Repair

I left the van under cover over winter but back on it now. I took out the rear windows and things were not bad so a little patching and slop on rustoleum rhrearwindow.jpg Tailgate was another story. the bottom of the window was in a poor state so had to patch up both corners. Filler makes it look OK...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

I've started another camper project. Not sure I'm going to finish either of them.

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

I got things back together enough to take the van on a trip to Homebase to pick up a 'sold as seen' BBQ bargain. On they way there my spirits were high - without all the camper internals the van felt really sprightly. Depression soon set in. For the return trip, the van would turn over but not start...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

The panel above the arch is very flimsy but I'll pretend I now have a T25 lightweight. Every 1KG saved is a tenth of a second off lands end to john o'groats. I though I could leave the cab steps until next year but the drivers side seems to have disintegrated in just a couple of months so I fixed wi...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

Weatherproof! I didn't think I'd do it in time so I'm happy, but it isn't pretty. Mostly a good job though that I hope will not rust for a while. There are a couple of places I'm going to keep an eye on. Acres of painting to do now. The large panel just went on during today's Grand Prix: IMG_8048.JP...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

I can see again, nice weather, and still some holiday left. Far, far from perfect but a £10 pot of filler should sort it. All warnings came true. The high spots are where it is glued. At least I can get it watertight. IMG_8044.JPG A selection of spot weld cutters has just arrived so I'll see how I g...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

Arc eye, for the second time, means no work despite perfect conditions :(
I think there must be a big difference in UV output between the max and max-1 settings on my welder. This time was worst and hopefully I've learnt my lesson and I'll be welding with much darker settings from now on.

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

In my case, the rot from A was definitely coming through from the back. I cut out a peep panel on the inside to give it a good look. If the van is on any sort of angle then water can come off the gutters and pour in the air vents then I guess it can go anywhere. Lots of water marks in there but that...

Most of the answers are already available if you read for long enough. This is the way to fix with a full panel: http://archive.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=119181&start=45" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Other idea for full panel: http://forum.club8090.co.uk/...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

All I managed to do today was get the wing on and clan up the C post. Wing: IMG_8041.JPG C Post with Krust. Solid. IMG_8042.JPG So... how to attache the tall panel? I think the usual methods are Either to put the tall panel on first, fold over the inside of the wheel arch, then attach the arch. Or j...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

Good weather forecast so I booked a day off. This year's holiday and holiday money are spent welding the van. It's about the best holiday I've had with the van in 7 years. I have a tall panel and a wing with inside arch. Not sure what to do. I've decided to put the wing on first as some of the insid...

Re: Replacing panel advice

I'm only on my phone but search the last half dozen builds I've done , every type of join you wish is pictoraly covered Or maybe some one can link you, spotting or ither is nearly always from the rear , there us no valid excuse for welding down a seam save laziness/lack of knowledge/skill, mm I've ...

Re: repro panels are crap

I just fitted a similar panel. The curve was too sharp and about 3mm to short. After tapping the curve to shape the panel length was perfect at the top - seems like the amount of metal was correct but just not quite in the right place. I thought making third party panels fit is part of what you expe...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

I've already done the other side and today I found it full up with water - I have the rear lights off so I guess it got in that way. Is there supposed to be a drain? As it rained this weekend I could watch where the rain comes in... through the air vents. So there must be a drain - where should it ...
