Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Reading
The readings at the oil filter housing can only be better, being nearer the oil pump.

Re: Liquid gasket.
No problem with using liquid gasket plus gasket if other methods have failed. Just don't use too much. Too much is if any of it oozes out of the joint. Just the merest skim is enough. I hate seeing joints clagged up with masses of silicone.
Modern vehicles don't use many gaskets, just silicone.

Re: 1Y coolant pipes/system
I can't help you with the breather pipe I'm afraid, but can offer some advice about the air intake.... The air intake will be VERY noisy without connecting it to some kind of silencer. This should be the flexible snorkel pipe rising up to the intake grille, but these pipes tend to have deteriorated ...

Re: CU engine build
The oil pump cover gaskets supplied in the gasket kit used to be too thick, giving the oil pump too much axial clearance. I don't know whether they have put this right yet. It is supposed to be 0.1mm thick if I remember correctly. I cured this by leaving the cover gasket off altogether, and using ju...

Re: 1Y coolant pipes/system
Well done, that's serious progress. You have worm drive clips on the fuel pipes though. These should be changed to proper fuel hose clips, as the ones you have may distort the small diameter hoses and can introduce air leaks into the fuel system. Once the system is sucking in air, even in small amou...

Re: Nuts and bolts for a beginner
The nuts are squashed across the flats in manufacture so they are self locking. Once tight they won't shake loose.

Just replaced those two on mine.

Re: Nuts and bolts for a beginner
One reason that those rubber mounts can fail on a 1.9 conversion is that the block is about 9mm taller than the 1.6 so they are under stress. It took a couple of failed sets of mounts before I discovered that. You can file the bolt holes so that it all fits without stress. If possible the rubber sho...

Re: 1Y coolant pipes/system
As for the little wire clips, you could just use a couple of fat zip ties in place of them.

Re: 1Y coolant pipes/system
That's the correct sump then. Sorry I raised unnecessary concerns. The original diesel setup has an oil filling tube accessible via the "cat flap", but this would clash with the auxiliary belt, so they have made up something. It's simple enough to fill the oil through the cap on the cam co...

Re: 1Y coolant pipes/system
Here are some pictures of my Diesel engine bay. You can see the long metal (sometimes yellow plastic) coolant pipes in this photo. From what I can see, your pipes are missing. Hope this helps. They are there. but sort of dangling several inches below where they should be, and one much closer in to ...

Aidan's right, you can push the collar down against the spring.
Here's the tool I use.

The little wire circlips can be bought from Simply Bearings in the circlip section of their webshop, although I've reused them sometimes.

Re: 1Y coolant pipes/system
Hmmm. Quite a lot going on here. Here's a photo of the engine bay on my AEF conversion, which would be pretty similar to a 1Y installation. https://i.imgur.com/LYrhXVp.jpeg Some things to note in this photo........ All the hoses, expansion tank, etc are from the original 1.6CS installation, as the ...
