Re: mile per gallon
28mpg combined town and 55mph motorway work on my H reg 2.1 dj WBX. That is being gentle on the pedal though, using the torque to get upto speed and timing breaking carefully all in an effort to extract the maximum mpg from her.

I started this thread and im amused by its continuation but everybody seems to be making valid points.........safety first hey. I work as a 'fast response unit' paramedic in london and i've been first on scene to dozens of cases of a vehicle inadequately supported falling. In alll honesty as far as ...

Re: Getting under your van?
If you see me and my van at Oswestry then you will know that my bolser wood supports were adequate, If i am not there then you will know that they failed. However, it may be better if I dont attend as my van will clean up in the 'best T25' category..... as long as the judges dont inspecvt the qualit...

Re: Getting under your van?
I am pleased that the teaching of my supporting technique has entertained, however, I think you have all been a tad harsh.... I fail to see the problem or inadequacy of my method. In fact, I intend to do the same today whilst topping up the waxoil. ps oh and regards the various bottles of oil...

Re: Gearbox Oil - Change or Not to Change?!!
I follwed all the advice on numerous old threads on here. i purchased a 17mm hex key. the filler plug on the box is hard to locate if you dont know where to look, i fathomed it by deciphering the haynes manual photo's. it isnt posssible to get a socket wrench on the 17mm hex once in the plug, a span...

Gearbox Oil - Change or Not to Change?!!
Engine and gearbox oil changed today after enjoyable reading of many threads on here suggesting that the gearbox oil doesnt need changing. I accept that the haynes doesnt cover changing the box oil and my original owners manual states that its filled for life...... I'll open the can of worms up yet ...

Engine and gearbox oil change tomorrow (was planning to do it today but my new Halfwits trolley jack wasnt upto the job!!). I understand from experience with cars that the oil thins and flows better when warm but what im more concerned about is loosening of the plugs and fillers.. warm or cold for e...

Jacking/Axle Stand Position?
I've just purchased a jack and axle stands (2tonne capability with chocks & a trolley and wrenches on offer in Halford currently for £39.99), intend to change the engine and gearbox oil today. Two questions (haynes and whiki helpful but want clarification before I do some damage!). Warm up engin...
