Re: Engine Surge
Thanks Aiden, I think I'll need to source some switches. The 2 connections are there but I think the switches must have been removed for some reason when the engine was changed. Anyone know who might have some? Cheers.

Engine Surge
Right, my 2.1dj engine has a bit of a surge. It happens when the throttle is being feathered to maintain a steady speed, or when driving slowly in town, and almost feels like the van is in too high a gear. I can get rid of it by accelerating out of it, but I have to pull away harder than I'd like to...

Re: Beds - which is best?
I put a full width Bluebird customs rock'n roll in the back of our van. We went for the frame, timber and foam package which cost a few pounds but was well worth it.

Re: welder
I use a small SIP gas/no gas welder and after a bit of practice I'm finding it easy to use with good results. I'm using flux cored wire at the moment as I'm welding outdoors, and other than having to clean the work surface at regular intervals I'm fairly happy.

Re: Which 12Volt Telly/DVD Player?
With my old telly, I plugged it into a 12Volt socket (the cigarette lighter type) which was fed from a Power Management System (similar to a Zig unit) which was fused. The socket also contains it's own fuse. I think I've read somewhere that some tellies come with a regulator of some sort to protect ...

Re: Which 12Volt Telly/DVD Player?
It comes with a 230 to 12Volt transformer which plugs into the back of the telly, so I would imagine so. I'm going to give it a try when I get a minute. I think It was mentioned further up the thread that it's been tried.

Re: Which 12Volt Telly/DVD Player?
Nice one. I played a DVD on the Bairn's telly today and gave it a good shake about and it didn't have any effect on the picture. With the bumpy road simulation test passed (!?) I'll get myself a 12 volt lead (might be one in the shed) and try it out in the van. I did consider a Kogan as it seemed to...

Re: Which 12Volt Telly/DVD Player?
Thanks to all for your replies. Funnily enough, the inlaws bought the Bairns a Curries Essentials telly each at Christmas. I did consider sorting out a lead and trying one out in the van. I'll give it a try at the weekend. I see that the Ideal Word channel are now selling Cello tellies on their webs...

Re: Which 12Volt Telly/DVD Player?
Is it an LED screen and do you have to sit facing it straight on to get a good picture? My old telly was an LCD screen and you could view it from just about any angle.

Which 12Volt Telly/DVD Player?
As a result of the death of my current tv/dvd player (Nextbase, model no longer in production) I'm on the hunt for a new set, 11 to 15 inch screen if possible and must be able to use as a dvd player whilst on the move. Any recommendations? And before anyone says it, no, I didn't have a telly in the ...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!
I got myself a tin of RAL6005 green (£29) and some Pound Shop supplies recently , and will be having a bash at painting my van in the near future. But being a little impatient, I had a practice on an old Dexion shelf this afternoon with fairly disappointing results. I flattened the surface to be pai...

I got my pump and thermostat from my local Eurocarparts branch. The pump was about £46 and the 'stat was about £8.

Could it be a dodgy thermal transistor, fitted on the pcb behind the guages? Have a look on Wiki.

Re: Radiator and Therostat Queary
Thanks to you both. As mentioned, Haynes manual states that the coolant enters the top of the radiator first then passes downwards through the radiator which surely can't be right then?
