If you get the time go to Falaise - great municipal site at the foot of the castle (William the Conquerers old pad). Was the scene of a rather large battle in WW2. Also St Mare Eglise (sic) - 101st airborne museum. Point de hoc is a bit of a mad place - the shell holes etc make it look like a luner ...

Anywhere in the Languedoc/Midi is good all very medieval.

Think Aidan will be your man for this one. My 5 speed (non syncro ) has an extended 5th gear - I get 65-70 on motorways in 5th and no where near the red line.

If you get probs when driving through the forest there's a place at Sway (right next to the main line train station) called KFK they repair T3's. Phone number is 01590 683429. Hopefully you won't need them (prob a bit late now) but incase you do.
