Exhausts and exhaust manifold when fitting a larger engine

I have replaced my original 1.7 non turboDiesel engine (1989) with a 1.9 non turbo diesel. I used the exhaust and exhaust manifold from the 1.7 engine. Is this ok or should i be fitting a 1.9 set up and will doing so increase power? The van cruises at 60 and can reach 70 ish but feels slower than wh...

Re injector pump not working

The engine was fitted as a replacement second hand engine complete.
I was posting this on behalf of someone else, I believe the mechanic fitting the said engine just had a problem getting it going and then blamed the injector, thanks for all the advice anyhow.

Diesel injector pump problems after engine fitted

Having fitted a new second hand engine, the injector pump doesnt seem to be working. It was working prior to being fitted. Could the injector pump have suffered from being stood unused for a couple of months? It was dry stored?
Anything I can do to get it back to rights?
Thanks

Hi along the same inquiry, my van was originally a panel van, it's been converted to a camper with a rock n roll bed. I also need to fit child safety seat. Any idea where I can get seat belts fitted?

Oil warning light came on ( any likely engine damage)

I've just returned from a 1,500 mile trip to France. As my 1.9 diesel engine leaks a few drops of oil I checked the level before any long sections of driving. I did notice oil had been blown onto the back door of the van when doing motorway driving. Anyhow to get to the point when i returned to Blig...

The Grange Garage is tops

The Grange Garage opposite, Grange PUb, Alfall Road I think in Soke, Coventry is a regular back street garage that will work on vans at a competative rate. Top place for MOT's too. I needed some welding on van for the mot, they just charged £20 extra. My missus discovered the place about 10 years ag...

Welding/brazing/extending dipsticks

Having fitted a car engine to my van I need to extend the dipstick to get an oil reading. I found out yesterday that welding dipsticks doesnt work.
Does anyone know if brass brazing would be any better?
If not where can i get tiny rivets?

Keys locked in van!

Stupid stupid, I've managed to lock both sets of keys in my van. Am I likely to be able to open my 1989 van with other VW keys, if not which is the cheapest window to pop? I've tried a steel ruler down the window to no avail. One last hope is my roof/sky vent thing, will these open from the outside?...
