diesel cooling system yet again...
ok, got a new cap and thermostat ( from VW ! ) checked t/stat, definetely working okay, but when its in the van, it overheats, and only 1 pipe at the back is hot, but when i remove the t/stat, both pipes heat up and no overheating. i know i could just leave it out, but i would rather gget this probl...

How long should it take to get all air out of a diesel cooling system? i have bled mine for evermore and still air keeps blowing out. cant see any leaks anywhere, but i have found that i can blow through the expansion cap both ways, is this norm, or is at meant to be a 1 way valve? got a new one on ...

Well, i done just that, took out the t/stat, put it all back together went for a drive and its just what i was hoping for! rad heats up, no overheating not much in the way of heaters but i can live with that just now. yeah, i was thinking along the same lines westy, that will be my first port of call in the morning,heres hoping thats all it is, miss my weekend trips away! other than the overheating it goes really well and engine sounds sweet! should be a good bit cheaper to run around the hills than the 1.9 petro...

Just finished my petrol to diesel conversion at last, goes great but overheats when driven. Tried bleeding several times. Does any one know if its possible to replace the braided cable that goes between the two, and if so how ? Mine has completely rotted away and im guessing thats why she wont start any longer
