yeah thats the way that i got it too, but i just had a look on etka and it shows it the other way round.maybe just a mistake on their part.

had another thought... could the thermostat be in the wrong way ? ive got it with the spring end inside the pump and rounded-ish end sits in the cover with hose attached ? anyone know if thats correct ?

diesel cooling system yet again...

ok, got a new cap and thermostat ( from VW ! ) checked t/stat, definetely working okay, but when its in the van, it overheats, and only 1 pipe at the back is hot, but when i remove the t/stat, both pipes heat up and no overheating. i know i could just leave it out, but i would rather gget this probl...

Thanks guys. the cap is black looks pretty old as well. have got 1 on order from vw should be here tomorrow along with a new t/stat. :lol:

How long should it take to get all air out of a diesel cooling system? i have bled mine for evermore and still air keeps blowing out. cant see any leaks anywhere, but i have found that i can blow through the expansion cap both ways, is this norm, or is at meant to be a 1 way valve? got a new one on ...

Well, i done just that, took out the t/stat, put it all back together went for a drive and its just what i was hoping for! rad heats up, no overheating not much in the way of heaters but i can live with that just now. yeah, i was thinking along the same lines westy, that will be my first port of call in the morning,heres hoping thats all it is, miss my weekend trips away! other than the overheating it goes really well and engine sounds sweet! should be a good bit cheaper to run around the hills than the 1.9 petro...

definetely no leaks engine rebuilt not too long ago. think i will take thermostat out tomorow and see what hapens, start with the easiest thing first. its just the fact that no hot water comes out of bleed screw on rad that makes me think of air or blockage somewhere ?

Just finished my petrol to diesel conversion at last, goes great but overheats when driven. Tried bleeding several times. The water that comes out of the bleed screw is always stone cold for some reason though ? also radiator never heats up. have flushed / back flushed it. Both pipes at the back are...

Starter to solenoid...

Does any one know if its possible to replace the braided cable that goes between the two, and if so how ? Mine has completely rotted away and im guessing thats why she wont start any longer :cry:
