Re: 1.6 Diesel Water Pump Belt Change.

Hi Rob, I don't remember ever having to use shims. Just buy a complete pump and casing to avoid having to re seal (they used to be in expensive as a full unit) and the belt tension is done by the Alt as I recall.

Re: Radius bushes (OE vs VW)

Hi Martin, that's bad news! Febi used to be a reliable make in days gone by. I am concerned about the lack on the metal outer on the inner bush allowing more movement than the original. That said both KW and BW supply the same ones so maybe an 'update' I'm not normally a fan of Polly on my road cars...

Radius bushes (OE vs VW)

Hi folks! I have just started replacing the front radius arm bushes (what a job that is!) and I notice that my new parts are not exactly the same as the Vw originals on the van. The VW parts have metal faces on both the inner and outer bush where as the new OE Fabi bushes only have the outer bush wi...

Re: AAZ Flywheel Bolts

I have reused them before but they are also cheap from brickwrks etc. if you have time use new for peace of mind if not thread lock them and torque correctly and you should be fine

Water pooling..

Are those pop buttons all along the outside? Wouldn't imagine that those are meant to be there from the factory and would easily leak? Mine leaked but it was the screen seal as is normally the case

Re: When do you put yours away for the winter?

Very interesting guys, glad to see that you all use your vans to the fullest :) I'm generally very busy in the last few month of the year so no real prospects of camping and I'm lucky enough to have access to dry storage. I still get her out on dry days and do a few checks :). One day I would like t...

Re: Gear knob thread size 12 / 14mm

I extended my gear stick using one of those kinked extenders (er, obviously...), it puts gearknob in a much better place than standard. If you could get one of those (or make one, piece of P really) with 14mm female and 12mm top end, job done. If you bought a 14/14mm one, be a doddle to put a 12mm ...

When do you put yours away for the winter?

Hi all, hope all are well:)

I will be putting my van away for the winter at the end of October, mostly because that when the tax runs out so it makes sense to do it then.

One more trip to Kielder this weekend and that's that for another year :)

When do you put yours away?

Re: 195/80/15 tyres will they fit?

They'll fit on 7J rims fine and look ok if you have the higher springs found on many Caravelles but a better bet is 195/70/15 as the speedo will be almost bang on using that size and they're ok steering-wise. I had this discussion with a time-served tyre fitter and he suggested 80s but said to try ...

Re: What gearbox would you recommend....l

I recently went to a ABD box from an DM? And I have to say it's much better. Still not the fastest can on the block but got us to France, round and back with no problems and a reasonable turn of speed. Next yer I will add bigger tyres and will be happy with that :)

Re: Header Tank Top Up

Sound like you are being a bit to tough on your self here! I actually intentionally leave some air in to keep the pressure down. So I doubt a tiny bubble will hurt

Re: JX Coolant leak - advice please

No sealant normally just good o rings. The metal ones are no better really just get a new plastic one for brickwrks and it will be fine for years to come

Re: Rocker cover gasket help 1.6d

I prefer the 4 bolt setup if available, still don't over tighten as it easy to bend the shape of the cover. Does yours have the strips under the bolts as this helps keep the pressure even. Yes have 1 for each side. The cork gasket I used which was new looks like it still allows oil out at one corne...

Rpm on jx

I think that both those codes are 5 speeds and in the better range for longer gears /lower revs. Your larger wheels will be knocking off a few hundred rpm at a guess. Best look after it :)
