I had the same prob. Get underneath and run along the selector rod until you find an expansion joint, undo the clamp around it and slide it out no more ethan 1/8 inch. SEAT COVERS
has anybody come across a decent set of seat covers for the front two seats only that fit properly. Mine are of the sort without head rests or arm rests and are made in the highest quality PVC!!

dunno why everyone jumps to a compression test!!
