Re: early or late
Cheers for that little link, Monsho - I now know my van was made in a factory in Hanover in August 1983!

Re: Just a quick rust treatment question (with picture!)
Yeah, I'm hearing the experience and thanks for the truth! My current situation means that I'll have to just go for the temporary solution and when I get more settled after my move in the van, I'll look at it from the inside rather than just the external aesthetics. I don't want it getting too out o...

Re: Just a quick rust treatment question (with picture!)
Not the fridge, noooooooooooooo :rollin I'm leaving on a yearlong (or longer) van-expedition, so even when I'm off I can work on the van's rust. I just wanted to have a 'little go' at that seam because the orange looked ugly :!: rather than do much else... The novelty is already wearing off :ok Chee...

Re: Just a quick rust treatment question (with picture!)
I liked the guy's Panel Wax anecdote - sounds like some kind of magic! Think I'm going to piece together everyone's input and deal with it tomorrow before I hit the coast later on next week :ok I'm quite looking forward to just getting my wire brush to the seam and getting as much rust as I can out ...

Re: Just a quick rust treatment question (with picture!)
hehe, looks like there's no quick answer when it comes to rust,eh
It's the middle seam, Billy.
And cheers Kev!
Seems like I've got quite a few options now...hmmm.

Billy, not sure if its filler in there or just sealed, to be honest. What's a T cut, though?

Re: Just a quick rust treatment question (with picture!)
Sjmtlewy, so am I covering up the seam with the seam sealer (once the rust is out and treated)? So the seam will be 'closed' in the end, right?

Re: Just a quick rust treatment question (with picture!)
Thanks to the both of you! Just the guidance I needed. I've had a look through the vents under the fridge and it looks OK - 2 rust patches about 5cm wide but nothing very big comparing it to the picture of the fridge side panel in the Wiki...at the top of the fridge through the vents it looks clear....

Just a quick rust treatment question (with picture!)
Hey guys, I've gone through the Wiki rust section and just wanted to check what I'm planning on doing is going to be OK. Here's the rust on the dreaded fridge side :D Seems to have been aggravated by the constant rain and snow over the past 2 months: http://undeceivable.typepad.com/rustyrusty.jpg Th...

Re: Pop-Top Mattress
Exped mattress has now been tested only on top of rock 'n roll bed, but kept me well insulated and was comfy too
Bit long though and tends to slide towards the front of the van - could have been because I was parked on a slight slope
hehe, not entirely conclusive, but it did feel comfy!

Re: How good are thermo mats?
I've gone for the JK silver thermo pads for now and when I get them I'll go camp in the middle of a snowstorm and see how well they work
Next stop (after battery charger) will be pop-top protection!

Re: Quick Battery Charging Question
Yeah, I borrowed the Halfords one from a neighbour and the light does goes from amber to green - just wondered how long I was going to have to charge it for. In the end though, I charged it for an hour or so before giving the van a go and it started fine. Then I went for a drive to charge it... :oop...
