Nearside inner sill - 253-801-251
Hello I'm in the middle of prepping my van for some bodywork repairs to the nearside between the wheels. I had some rot under the corners of the westy roof rack/ top windscreen which let water run in along inside the channel above the door, down the B pillar where it has pooled and caused havoc insi...

A ballsy approach to an engine conversion. I like it.

Re: Gear box oil (how much oil)
What oil would i need for my gear box, i have a 1.6TD JX engine with a dog leg 5 spead gear box. How much oil do i need and where is the location to drain the oil and to refill it? Thank-you Recessed 17mm hex key. One bolt on top of gearbox (the one you MUST ensure you can undo FIRST!) and one on u...

Re: clutch problems
It could be your master cylinder.
But I think it is more likely to be slave cylinder. Mounted on the side of the gearbox. Bleed it and then see if there is any improvement.

Re: JX fuel pump timing
Well I set my valve clearences cold, seems to work ok.Has someone twideled the residual fuel screw, the one with the anti-tamper coller on it? What colour is the smoke? The smoke is black. Thing is, on hills, foot down it smokes loads, but not continuously. There'll be a few seconds of clouds of blac...

Re: JX fuel pump timing
Hmm!have you got the mark on the pump wheel pointing to the mark[oblong] on the pump bracket[around 10-11oclock]. Is the gauge moveing out when you turn it back to TDC?[is the gauge loose in the extension tube thingy?] a) yes, correctly marked. b) not moving. Rod inside gauge seems to be binding. K...

Re: JX fuel pump timing
Ok try this; engine at TDC,push DTI in so the pointer goes round once and a bit more for luck [a lot of preload] then turn the bezel on the gauge to zero.now wind the engine anticlock wise untill the pointer stops [probably .8 to .9mm on the gauge?] turn the bezel to zero and wind the engine back t...

JX fuel pump timing
Morning - I need some help. No not with that, with my van. Spent yesterday checking the timing on my JX van. Cam / crank was bang on correct, but was having trouble getting a reading on the DTI in the back of the pump. So - engine at TDC on flywheel, DTI in the adapter with its rod pushed in the pum...

Re: fedex my redex!
My JX engined van has an integrated smoke screen feature. It's activated by depressing the accelerator pedal over 3/4. I occasionally use it to get rid of people who drive too close behind me. So it goes... Thus, the van failed MOT due to 'excessive smoke'. The tester added something he called 'stop...

Well, thank you for your replies.
I bit the bullet and purchased a Motordome Classic. Didn't manage to get away this weekend to try it out - good that the 'figure of eight' gutter rail fixing is included.
