Surely the gears, synchro rings (yes synchro has an h here), sliders and general mechanism is identical to the 2WD gearbox so the shifting shouldn't be any different to that of a Syncro...

Not had any problems with shifting in my van. Maybe try a different gearbox oil Harryman?

Dimond, I thought you were installing a Subaru engine from your other posts?

Sorry I don't have any pictures of any V6 adaptors or engines, sorry.

You could give GB Engineering a call if you want more information and pictures.

Careful of Winkler,
They can't speak a word of English and have a tendency to waste your time.
GB Engineering used to make them but stopped. Last time I check was over a year ago so they may have started making them again.

Good luck

"Those weight figures you have could relate to almost anything anyway, as far as ancillary fitments - couldn't they? Did they come saying exactly what they related to... EXACTLY?" Good point well made.. no info on if thats dry weight, with or without ancilleries. Think I need to buy some s...

Wow thats a little heavier than I was expecting.
From the information which is on the net... which puts a Rover V8 at 318 lbs and an Aircooled Bug engine at 200 lbs.. oh and an Audi 1500 engine (similar to Golf GTi engine?) at 240lbs..

Weight rating on tyres is a bit of a difficult one with Type 25's, especially with low profile tyres. If your van is going to be used for carrying very heavy stuff and you are going to get near the GVW (gross vehicle weight) then be warned, most low profile tyres are not up to the spec.. so be it on...

If its onto a 2WD then you may just need longer wheel bolts and studs. The offset etc is correct so there shouldn't be any clearance issues.. even with 225/40/18's with the sliding door.

Anyone know the weight of a Subaru engine?

I'm thinking about putting a 2.2 or 2.5 Subaru engine into my van but half the battle with these vans to me is keeping the weight down. Does anyone know how much a 2.2 or 2.5 Subaru engine weighs?

Thanks

Cossie V6's come up from about £200 upwards. the Rover V8 won't fit in the engine bay, even with a kennedy engineering kit as the water pump will stick through where the engine lid closes... unelss you want to move the gearbox forwards...
I'd go with the Cossie V6.

No, There are 2 different Aircooled gearboxes which came in the Type 25. One is for the 2.0 Litre and the other is for the 1600 CT. Avoid the 1600 CT at all costs!! The code for the 2-litre is DK from memory. I think there is a link on one of the posts at the top from Harlequin Syncro for all the ge...

Harryman,
With finding part of a valve collet in the sump, I'd want to pull the rocker cover off and have a good look at the valve spring retainers! Scary

In a word.. no. Sorry The only engines which will "bolt in" to your van are the 1900, 2.1 Wasser and the Aircooled 2.0 litre and 1600CT engines from earlier Type 25's. The porsche 911 engine uses the same pattern as the VW but clutch and flywheel won't work... plus all the other stuff to d...
