Re: Stalling problems
Hmmm...the battery did run down over winter and we had to jump start it. The engine is also backfiring (?) I found a technical article that was issued to VW garages, when these vans were just setting out, stating that customers were complaining of running issues after having a service. The article ...

Re: Fuel Guage. Replace or Not
Cheers guys. :D I have checked the stabiliser and it seems ok. Temp gauge is working fine, voltages are getting to the back of the gauge too. I've actually taken the gauge out and applied an external 10 volts to it and passed it through a 100 ohm resistor to simulate the tank sender, but no movement...

Re: Switch panel - what's in yours?
I too have the factory fitted westy gauge which works nicely, but the zig system sounds good if you can switch between battery. If you are building a new interior or adding electrics to an existing set up and can find space to fit one, then the zig, or similar is probably best, as this is what nearl...

Re: Stalling problems
Hi bellacops, We recentlly bought our van and had the same sort of issues. Ours is a 2.1 auto, and we we're taking her to chedder for a weekend away. We managed to get a couple of miles down the motor way and she felt under powered. When I pulled of motorway to see if all was ok she would cut out at...

Fuel Guage. Replace or Not
Hi all, I know there are many posts about fuel gauges not working and I searched as best I can for an answer, but here goes. My fuel gauge stopped working, after being intermitant, a couple of months back. I tried the fill the tank and drive for set miles and re-fill, only to find the fuel tank was ...

Re: Fuel Leak Questions - Can anyone enlighten me please?
Cheers for the response Ian. Can I get away with getting the bus up on axle stands? Silly question....but if I can use axle stands, where can I put them. Is it also worth replacing all the "weak points"?

Re: Fuel Leak Questions - Can anyone enlighten me please?
Hi All, My fuel gauge stopped working recently and I had to rely on filling the tank and calculating the miles. However on the first time of filling to the brim, I noticed a small pool of fuel on the floor. I'm sure I've read some where about the filler systems degrading, but I can't seem to find an...

Re: alarm and immobilisor
I recently bought our first camper middle of last year and it came preinstalled with an alarm that has this self alarm feature, and all I can say is roll on good weather when I can get out to the van and remove it. We managed to take it away a couple of times and found it to be more a nuisence then ...

Re: No Power and stalling!?!?
Came out to her this morning and started up ok. reved her with no issues. Checked the HT leads, oil breather, water hoses, oil levels and air intake. Nothing looks degraded or needing replacement. Took her out for a run and got up to 60 and no issues at all. Going to take her out Sunday for a good r...

Well I searched around the tow bar and found nothing, so I assume it's not a detachable one.

Re: No Power and stalling!?!?
I had just filled her up to the brim as we were doing a long run. She did this last weekend on a short trip and after letting her stand for about an hour she ran fine, till today. I did check the plug leads when I came of the motorway, but all seemed ok. I will check again in the day light and see h...

I haven't come across anything like that, but I know what you're getting at. It's a standard grey westfalia camper interior.

Re: No Power and stalling!?!?
Hi Fritz. I was checking out the posts and noticed you posted some where else about water in the fuel too, which I'm going to check for. I've had the old girl for about 3 weeks and the previous owner had to replace the gaskets several times due to cheap copies that kept failing. All of which makes m...
