They only have to work on dipped beam.
Land rovers are wired this way all the other cars I looked at work on both dipped and main beam. Only found this out when I finally got the wiring diagrams out, then went on line to DVLA where they confirmed it

Just be warned that changing the atf on a transmission which has never had it changed before may cause your trans to fail. New ATF has lots of detergents and when they work there way behind old hardened seals, clutches and brakes they sometimes clean away all the gunk -which was keeping everything ...

instead of using back to black to maintain after you've sprayed them, try black dubbing shoe polish. Rub it in using an old tooth brush then buff it up with a cloth it does take a few hours to harden but it lasts and expels water :wink:

on the new filter, wipe the rubber seal with a little oil put a small amount into the filter before you fit it and only do it up by hand, tight, but by hand. and if your are working on a slope face it up the slope so all the the oil drains It should be a 13mm bolt with a copper washer just make sure...

Well he popped in for 5 minutes (I thought he was helping me out today!) he's buggered off to Weymouth.

the stud pattern and spacing look the same but....
