They only have to work on dipped beam.
Land rovers are wired this way all the other cars I looked at work on both dipped and main beam. Only found this out when I finally got the wiring diagrams out, then went on line to DVLA where they confirmed it

Just be warned that changing the atf on a transmission which has never had it changed before may cause your trans to fail. Hi, is the hook-up connector normally blue the same size as the 110v yellow it's just that Jewsons have yellow ones in at 2.20 each.
