Re: Whole van dies then comes back to life.
Thanks for the replies. Hmm, didn't think of that, might be actually. It was an all off moment, literally dead, I think I reached for the hazards and nothing, but I can't remember how long I left the switch on and I seem to remember that it takes a while before they start flashing might not have giv...

Whole van dies then comes back to life.
I was driving to the MOT and the van died. All off in a heart beat. Sitting at lights. So, thinking it was a short pulled the battery terminal off, didn't spark at all when I did, so pushed it back on, came back to life. It did this again. On the way back, same solution, though it came back on brief...

Re: Thicker oil in a reconditioned DG engine?
Got it back and it's probably better running than it's ever run since the new engine.
Identified a twisted out exhaust nut.
My last garage knew his stuff but his attention to detail was poor. Too many little things have added up to be a big thing.
Will continue with this garage , work is decent.

Re: Thicker oil in a reconditioned DG engine?
It was levelled in a campsite when I checked before I left. About 1mm from the top of the line. I'd done 130miles to Glastonbury. I filled the filter and left it a bit before fitting it. It does sink back when you fill it. My usual garage isn't getting back to me and takes weeks to book in even then...

Re: DG exhaust stud replacement - can it be done in situ?
Just use bolts and cut the heads off. Why mess around? m8x40 or 45 grub screws for a late van are ideal because you have an internal hex and cheap as chips really, i use stainless nuts and washers too, in fact the whole exhaust system is bolted together with stainless http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M4-M...

Re: Thicker oil in a reconditioned DG engine?
Thicker 20w50 mineral is fine, i use it now as my dg is high mileage if you used alot it either leaked out or got burnt, you need to find out which Fill it up, go for a run until its hot, place a cardboard box under the engine and look for leaks later, crank leak clutch end needs sorting or your cl...

Re: my blower motor fuse keeps blowing-options?
The fuse blew for the blower motor last night. Popped in a new fuse and and turned on the switch, no fan noise except a drop in rpm just before the fuse blew again. It has always sqeeled a bit when you turned on the motor, so i knew this day would come. Read the Wiki pages and it looks like a dashb...

Thicker oil in a reconditioned DG engine?
Got a oil leak on the way back from Glastonbury. It went from top of the line to less than the bottom of the line in about 30 miles. The 0.3bar pressure light was starting to flicker (custom oil pressure warning set up). I'd recently changed the oil and filter. It got there just fine. A fair amount ...

Re: Clamping heater control cable
As said above, from Brickwerks. Had to do exactly the same job a few months ago. If you're ordering one, get 2, just incase you damage it in frustration, and they're dead cheap. As you say its very difficult to work in that area. I had the coolant drained and was replacing the heater valve anyway, ...

Re: Breather hoses on petrol tank, clips missing?
Best investment that I made was a 3/4 inch bar for the rear axle nut - it gets used for undoing the wheel nuts on both my Merc and the VW. Even then I am surprised at the force I have to put behind it to crack some of them. I used the 2ft torque wrench I have to break it. Gave up with that. I was u...

Re: Breather hoses on petrol tank, clips missing?
Replaced them, very old and perished, all splayed out, surprised I'd not lost more fuel! I would concur with the 'doable with the wheel off, just' suggestion. It is. But like all things T25, nothing is ever simple is it. Twisted off the end of a 1/2" extender bar trying to get the wheel off. I a...

Slotted Sump Plug?
I have a recon remtec engine from VW Heritage which is purring along. Need to change the oil and looking my sump plug and the replacement sump plugs I can buy, mine is flush to the sump and you'd take it out with a screwdriver as its a slotted disc. Is this common. Its dark now but I'm going to get ...

Re: Breather hoses on petrol tank, clips missing?
I've recently done all the breathers on my tank using Brickwerks 5.5mm, and in my opinion they don't need clips. Once pushed on they're very difficult to pull off. I had to drop the tank again this weekend, and the breather pipes took a lot of pulling to get them off. Thanks, pretty easy to pull of...

Breather hoses on petrol tank, clips missing?
Mine are tempermental, sometimes come off when I fill it. I think its down to how powerful the pump I am using to fill it is. Looking at the exploded diagram, its appears clips are needed around the hoses but on my van, not a single clip is holding any of the pipes. Passenger side is the main proble...

Re: t25 dash removal (heater blower)
I did this a few weeks ago and while a pain to do, the wiki was brilliant help. I got it all sealed in and the fan running nice at all speeds. Came to use it the other day, it's blowing fuses again. I used non thinning Teflon oil, it was seized but with the oil it started 1st time every time ...
