Yes it would definitely contribute to your poor idling problem. There are plenty of threads on here reporting poor idle due to the rubbers perishing or splitting.

Have you noticed any improvement now you've connected it up?

Number 1 gets my vote too. For an easy life don't bother putting coals in the bottom simply buy disposable barbecues from Lidl at £1.49 currently and there's no cleaning up required when you fold it away :wink:

I can't remember where I heard it (probably on here!) but I recall someone suggesting filling your fridge with a few ice packs before setting off then switching to 12v for the journey and by the time you arrive for your EHU the fridge should already be down to the right temperature. I had the bright idea of removing my front bumper to respray it this weekend. On a check of my hoses on Sunday I came across this rubber shrouded sensor on the left below the thermostat housing. http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs444.ash1/24488_10150133966155444_668290443_11620650_360826_n.jpg When I removed the rubber shroud it was very wet inside so I'm assuming...
