I very much doubt the plate will be distorted. The bolts would snap before they could bend the plate.

37 hours thats not far off 4/12 working days. I'm finding it hard to believe this would take that long.
I remember Steve Shaw removed my dash and replaced my heater and put it back together in less than half a day.

Type 1.9 diesel battery into eBay it will come up with a fair few 096 batteries suitable for your engine.

Depending on what yours is. Either of these will fit. VW Alternator - T3 / Diesel / 90A (brickwerks.co.uk) This will need modifying if fitting to a 65A bracket.
