there seems to be 2 types , presume the 'glued blob of rubber ' is the aftermarket / redesigned type the serated washer in a groove is the original and the only type I have seen fitted that looks like its been there forever. i should have the pin , not alwqys the washer but they seem available new.... will have a looksee# where are you? also what engine do you have ?? yes i would say thats one of phils kits but could'nt the seal of buggered up when the engine was fitted if the engine was allowed to hang on the shaft ( ie jack sliped = one buggered oil seal ) and the spring and any metal bits from the seal could put a groove in the shaft.
