Re: Oil around spark plug - Help!
yes, like that but there was a small puddle in the well and it soaked as far as the rocker cover gasket.
I also found a small piece of shrapnel - a small pebble of metal maybe 3mm long by 1.5 dia in the plug thread or seat.

Oil around spark plug - Help!
Gerty started misfiring on her way home from camping on sunday, running fine on sat, and most of way home and then started with a slight judder, after 20 miles was down on power and felt like we were on 3 cylinders. Did some investigation last night, and spark plug no 2 was loose, i span it out with...

Re: Starter problem - motor spinning but not engaging
I've taken it off and the clutch mechanism is bust in the starter motor, sadly it's not a bosch one so have ordered a new one from VW heritage. There appears to be two half washers that retain the pinion on the return spring / clutch assembly. But i could only find one. So i'm guessing the other is ...

Starter problem - motor spinning but not engaging
I have a starting problem, the starter motor is spinning (very fast from the sound of it), but not turning the engine over. It sounds as if the drive pinion is not engaging. Is this a new starter or can i replace the pinion or ratchet? is there anything else i should look at? I'll replace the bush a...

Re: Fitting a bluebird bed in an autohomes komet - help!
well I've had a look at the bluebird bed tonight and I think if I just drill the mount points on the fixed lower side pieces 6" further back i'll get it to fit fine.
i'll post back up with pics if it works.

Re: Fitting a bluebird bed in an autohomes komet - help!
I just don't trust the rubbish way the auto homes bed/seat is fixed to the van, especially with kids on it. The foam and covers are tired and boards worn. I have the bluebird bed now, considering notching the corner of the seat base to go around the kitchen unit. Other problem I've noticed is my sea...

Fitting a bluebird bed in an autohomes komet - help!
Just been out removing the old knackered autohomes bed, as the new bluebird one is on it's way. Two initial problems I have noticed: 1. The water tank obscures the angled bulkhead and I can't get the water tank out without removing the side units, which I currently don't want to do. 2. The bluebird ...

Removal and Fitting cab door window scraper seals
Hello done a search of the wiki and the archive and couldn't find any detail about removing the old scraper seals from the cab door window (the J-shaped seal) and fitting a new one. Are there any tips or tricks anyone can share before I go out and make a pigs breakfast of the job and end up swearing...

Re: Vantracks, rock and roll beds, and children.
Mine had lap belts. but not 3 point. I fitted one 3 point belt but will need another - have researched options for this and have some ideas how to fit a second to the van.
Just wondered what other people with kids did to securely strap them down in the back on rock and roll beds.

Vantracks, rock and roll beds, and children.
Lurked and searched but been ages since I last posted. Gerty, our 91 autohomes komet, needs a new rock and roll bed. I need to carry two children in car seats (3 yrs and 3 mths). Currently have fitted a 3 point seatbelt on near side using the brickwerks kit. but previously had our eldest on the pass...
