Re: starting help....weber carb
There is probably a filter in the fuel intake of the carb, there was on the 32/36 when I had one. Worth a look.

Around 6 weeks left to go. convo's with him over the weekend rubbing it in that we were out enjoying the weather and a spot of weekend camping. Think he is looking forward to being back.

Re: Banging noise under load, what can I do??
I just used a grease gun, pushed the nozzle in between the boot and the shaft and squeezed some cv grease in, then forced the grease into the cv by compressing the boot into itself a couple of times.

Looking very tidy Kev, have you stopped stroking it yet?
A brilliant thread, will miss looking out for the next installment of the fantastic fabrication and welding.
Can't wait to see it in the flesh.

As Ian said. Can take a bit of pursuation. Did you change your clutch, if so is it aligned up? Leave the bolts out until the engine is pushed home against the bellhousing.

Use an appropriate sized socket with a short extension and lightly tap them home. You will be able to tell when they are seated correctly when the tapping sound changes tone.

Re: CU engine and Tinware refit
Definitely fit all of the tinwear before you lift it in, makes life a lot easier than trying to to get all of the screws in at tight angles and you are protect the barrel fins and pushrod tubes if it slips.

Re: Dellorto DRLA 40 jetting guide
I bossed both of mine with 10mm barbs, drilled, tapped and filed off flush on the inside of the manifold. I've seen some with one side and some with both sides done, I just copied the way VW had it set up originally. May be worth giving Jim at Stateside a ring. I know he supplied the right manifolds...

Re: Dellorto DHLA Dual-advance vacuum hose?
I think th 4 pipes you are talking about are used to balance the carbs, using a manometer. Not sure about DHLA but the DRLA left carb has an advance connector, to be connected to the cone side of the vacuum unit. Blank the inside off.
