Re: Westfalia fridge

Hi,
Have you moved or pulled the fridge or anything around it? It happened to me that I moved some things from behind the fridge and pulled out the connection to the ignitor by accident. Pulled the fridge out and saw the loose cable, reconnected it and done!

Hope this helps.

Re: ZIG UNITS & BATTERIES

We were using the 12v mode for the fridge while going to Cornwall but stopped at the petrol station for 30 minutes and forgot to switch it off  Beginners mistake. It says on the zig instructions that while switch set on 'touring' position, the leisure battery should get charged with engine run...

hello everyone, i have a couple of questions regarding the zig unit of my campervan and its batteries. one question is about power coming only from the leisure battery. i can't switch to the vehicle battery if needed in an emergency (for instance when the leisure battery is flat). and second questio...

i have some gass bits from a 212 i disposed of a couple of weeks ago.

Hi Billy739,

Did you keep the gas burner? I'm not going to bvf but I could arrange a courier if you'd like to sell it?

Re: Fridge Question: old models vs. new ones

thanks to Oldiebut goodie for your comments. i've finally given up after battling for the last month to get the part needed (the gas burner). it is an obsolete piece which the manufacturer doesn't make anymore. the only option is to look for a second hand one in a breaker, then change it, and then h...

Re: Fridge Question: old models vs. new ones

It may be worth just asking them to detail what the problem was - after all you have most probably just paid them for the diagnosis. I finally talked to the guy who serviced the van and said that the fridge burner was too corroded and failed to give a big-enough flame for the cooling to take place....

Re: Fridge Question: old models vs. new ones

I don't know, they seemed quite professional, although it would not surprise me if they couldn't be *rsed.
I think I'm going to look for a second opinion.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Fridge Question: old models vs. new ones

It appears strange to me that it has to be replaced - you say that it doesn't work on gas - implying that it works otherwise on electric. If it is working it makes more sense to replace any parts on the gas side that are not up to spec. What did they say was the problem that necessitates replacemen...

Fridge Question: old models vs. new ones

Hi Everyone, I took my Electrolux RM212f for service last week to be told that the fridge (which is not working on gas) has to be replaced. I have the money to buy a new Dometic but a friend told me that I'd be better off buying an (new) old electrolux since they are much better. Could anybody help ...

Re: electrolux fridge service...

Hi Nicola&Tony, It doesn't seem to be a Haynes Manual for the VW T25 and diesel. I went to Halfords the other day and the one they have is the 'VW Transporter (82-90) Service and Repair Manual' for petrol engines only (it says at the back, "diesel models not covered"). Also searched th...

Re: electrolux fridge service...

Right. I've read the wiki article on 'Camping Interior fridge removal' that Nicola&Tony kindly suggested. The problem is that I've always been a cyclist so I am still an illiterate when it comes to cars/vans. I got stuck on step number 1  "STEP ONE Firstly disconnect gas from bottle a...

Re: electrolux fridge service...

I think I might just take it out and giving it a good clean and try at home. If this doesn't work, then I'll have to think of a plan B. :run

Thanks for all replies.
