Good advice, thanks. Although I did the engine swap from cs to the 1y, I am a welder/fabricator by trade, not a mechanic. The thought of timing the pump scares me!, so will take it to a diesel specialist on our industrial estate and see what they say.
Thanks again
Noah

Re: 1y injector pump leaking at cold start
Thanks oldie. I am going on holiday in the van at the end of the month. I am just getting a few drops out now, but do you think it would be wise to sort ASAP? Could it suddenly get allot worse?

1y injector pump leaking at cold start
Hello. I thought I had an oil leak after I noticed oily marks on the road when I park and drops on the back door. On closer inspection it seems the injector pump is leaking from the cold start lever at the bottom of the pump. Is this nightmare to fix? Also when I switch the engine off there is a his...

Re: diesel engine temp wiring - to many wires!
Thanks ringo, so do i put both wires with the yellow stripe on this one? And the remaining one with the white stripe i think, from finding a post on brickyard, is the one that tells the glowplugs how long/weather to go on - any ideas for where this one attaches? How many wires does yours have, what ...

diesel engine temp wiring - to many wires!
Hello, I've finally completed a 1y conversion on my 1981 westfalia. The van had been messed about with before i got it and had a JP code N/A 1600 diesel installed (from a golf?). Various wires were piggy backed onto one another, but the gauge and warning lights worked. My problem is that i've got a ...

I've done lots of searches on here and have all the info and bits (i think) to carry the swap out, but have come accross...

Thanks Louey and Camper, I always keep the oil level between the two marks, and check it frequentley due to the leaks. Did you change the head gasket your self Camper? If so is it a nightmare? Is it worth just changing the gasket, or is it always nessesary to get the head skimmed? Thanks again, I ha...

Not sure if I made it clear what I wanted help with. Is there some reason why I now have these oil leaks, such as increased oil pressure for some reason? or could there be some link between the two leaks? Does it sound like the engine is on its last legs? Do head gaskets often go in this way?
Thanks
Thanks

1600 NA diesel oil leak(s)
Hello. My van is a 1982 NA diesel. I have repaired a crack in base of my oil filler neck using a soldering iron then some sealer over this, but still have a leak. It has a new o-ring and I have used some instant gasket stuff as well when oil continued to come out. On closer inspection, the oil appea...
